Had so much exposure on TV? He’s really really unfunny, he’s a crap stilted presenter and just makes everything awkward.

Who are your faves op

I’d be interested to know this too OP. But mostly I want to know WHY they are your faves. You have asked posters to explain why they like RR. I think that can be difficult to explain when it comes to comedy preferences. So, if you explain why you like someone, people will have a template of sorts to work with.

FartyPants9 · 11/10/2025 22:56

I feel the same way about Rylan Clarke Neale.

Redpeach · 11/10/2025 22:58

TheprettiestvillageinChristendom · 11/10/2025 22:53

@Redpeachha ha - yes I can see why you would think that. But no, I wouldn’t go near him with a barge pole.

So is he mean to his wife then?

Rainymoondays · 11/10/2025 22:59

I posted who I like above. For me it’s quick wit, wry approach, self depreciation and a little counter cultural. But not, ‘blame all the women in my life’ like RR does

Urgh, so annoying.

Although I feel that way about anyone who is so desperate for fame that they did literally anything to get it. Its why I can't stand Amanda Holden and Catherine Zeta Jones.

LikeWhoUsesTypewritersAnyway · 11/10/2025 23:01

I agree. Cannot stand the bloke. Not since he said 'I don't think I'm better than you because I'm a vegan, I KNOW I'm better than you.'

Hugely unfunny individual, with zero talent IMO. Obviously has some very good connections in TV.

AmyDuPlantier · 11/10/2025 22:30

Because they buy a presenter’s exclusivity for x number of years and ram them into every show to get their moneys worth.

I didn't know this. That would explain why his oddly square head and strange comments are everywhere at the moment. Caught some stand up.of his recently and it wasn't particularly funny and also rammed with pointless over the top swearing.

SprayWhiteDung · 11/10/2025 23:03

Rainymoondays · 11/10/2025 22:31

What do you like about him? Genuinely I don’t find him funny. I mean I don’t dislike him as a person, he seems fine. But just not funny and an awkward presenter

I think that's part of his humour, though: deliberately coming across as awkward for comedic effect, whether it works for you personally or not (and either is fine).

A bit like Les Dawson was actually a very accomplished pianist, but he made it part of his comic act that he was supposedly rubbish at playing - for laughs.

Runningismyhappyplace50 · 11/10/2025 23:03

I used to find him funny but not so much now.

Really annoyed me when he was moaning about his youngest’s allocated secondary school place.

He was a teacher not some well connected media guy

Livelovebehappy · 11/10/2025 23:04

Comedy is very subjective. I don’t like him. At all. But I guess my choice of presenters and comedians might not be everyone else’s taste either. I recall going to see Lee Evan’s a few years ago. I went with a friend who had a spare ticket. People around me were literally belly laughing and I just didn’t laugh once. And he was massively popular. Like I said, everyone’s sense of humour can be so different.

pavillion1 · 11/10/2025 23:04

We love him

MinecraftMum40 · 11/10/2025 23:05

He’s actually such a lovely guy. I listen to his podcast “the wolf and owl” that he does with Tom Davis. Both are incredibly lovely, kind, caring men. In a world filled with toxic masculinity they bring me hope every time I listen. Rom is incredibly self deprecating and I feel doesn’t realise how wonderful he is and he struggles with anxiety and feeling awkward but he’s very talented and a hard worker. He adores his wife and children and loves his (very funny imo) mum. I wish the world had more men like Romesh in it.

LikeWhoUsesTypewritersAnyway · 11/10/2025 23:05

PyongyangKipperbang · 11/10/2025 22:45

I am with you OP, I dont get it either.

I think that the programs he presents are popular though. So for example I am sure no one watched The Weakest Link's first iteration just to see Anne Robinson.

What I find most irritating about him is that he will shoehorn his veganism into almost every interview I have heard or read. "Romesh, what is your opinion on the war in Ukraine?" "Well as a vegan......" Obviously that is an exaggeration, but not much. He really is proving the stereotype.

That and his mother, same as Jack Whitehall and his dad. Their kids did the work but they get to steal some of the limelight.

Edited

Yep, this. ^ The Weakest Link is unwatchable with him 'presenting' it. He is cringeworthingly unfunny on that. The 'totes hilaire' lines he says on there (that are meant to be funny) are dreadful.

Okiedokie123 · 11/10/2025 23:07

I don’t like him at all. I switch over when his show starts on R2.
Rude, grumpy and not nice about women. Plus if I recall correctly he thinks men can become women which in itself is a huge goodbye from me.

AgentPidge · 11/10/2025 23:08

Rainymoondays · 11/10/2025 22:32

What is his sense of humour though? I’m watching that tv programme with him on it now and there’s no personality there

I agree with you. I don't get it. But then I don't get the appeal of Alan Partridge either and lots of people like him too. Also Rob Brydon .

But I watched Michael McIntyre's 25 Years in Showbiz show (or called something like that) and I laughed so much I was nearly sick!

He WAS a teacher, who got lucky and was in the right place at the right time. And he is certainly well connected now. He's never off the telly. 🙄

Yes to this too. ^

Vanillabourbon · 11/10/2025 23:11

I think he is brilliant. I listen to the wolf & owl podcast and every week, he makes me laugh. So down to earth and witty.

But each to their own, everyone finds different comedians funny.

foxlover47 · 11/10/2025 23:12

I find him hilarious , I also liked him in king Gary

ChessorBuckaroo · 11/10/2025 23:13

Pemba · 11/10/2025 22:27

I listen to him on the radio, and I do find him funny.

I like him.

It's taste is it?

lifeonmars100 · 11/10/2025 23:14

I like him, we all have different tastes and find different things amusing. For example I have never laughed at Michael McIntyre (don't even think I have spelt his name correctly) and he seemed to be on the telly a lot a while back.

Redpeach · 11/10/2025 23:15

He'll probably use this thread as material in his standup

Oh I beg your pardon - all your "what am I missing?" questions read to me as confusion. My mistake.
