Had so much exposure on TV? He’s really really unfunny, he’s a crap stilted presenter and just makes everything awkward.

Didn’t suggest it was. I just wonder what I’m missing - and what people find funny about him

It's personal taste. What is confusing about that?

Onelifeonly · 11/10/2025 22:44

I think he is funny, mostly. He is self deprecating and has a dry wit that I like. If you don't get it, I don't think anyone can make you. Each to their own.

Mumstheword1983 · 11/10/2025 22:44

I find him funny. He's probably a favourite of mine. As far as comedians/presenters go.

MoominMai · 11/10/2025 22:44

@Rainymoondays you realise that what people like or find funny is all subjective right? There’s no point raising a thread saying I don’t like this or that entertainer as if they’ve made it mainstream then obviously enough people do like them! We all have a different sense of humour and it feels strange you wanting an explanation of ‘why’ they find him funny? Like why do you care?

I do find it strange why people hyper focus on entertainers they don’t like rather than just getting on with their lives lol.

PyongyangKipperbang · 11/10/2025 22:45

I am with you OP, I dont get it either.

I think that the programs he presents are popular though. So for example I am sure no one watched The Weakest Link's first iteration just to see Anne Robinson.

What I find most irritating about him is that he will shoehorn his veganism into almost every interview I have heard or read. "Romesh, what is your opinion on the war in Ukraine?" "Well as a vegan......" Obviously that is an exaggeration, but not much. He really is proving the stereotype.

That and his mother, same as Jack Whitehall and his dad. Their kids did the work but they get to steal some of the limelight.

Rainymoondays · 11/10/2025 22:32

What is his sense of humour though? I’m watching that tv programme with him on it now and there’s no personality there

If you really couldn't see any personality or humour, that's down to you, not him.

Algen · 11/10/2025 22:47

I’m indifferent to him - I wouldn’t actively seek out something he’s presenting but wouldn’t go out of my way to avoid him either. I do think he is a bit over-exposed. Reminds me a little of Michael McIntyre a few years back in that respect.

HawthornWand · 11/10/2025 22:39

I find him quirky and dry. His grumpy persona is similar to Jack Dee in some ways. I also like his self deprecation when telling anecdotes about how his wife, kids and mum treat him. I find him down to earth and amusing. Like a friend who's a bit of a curmudgeon but you are fond of them. I really enjoyed the Ranganation and fouhd it uplifting and very amusing.

A bit man baby for me - it’s always the wife, the mum etc picking on him. Maybe he’s just a really annoying man

I’m not sure I said it was confusing

I completely agree with you OP. He’s an extremely unpleasant man. Arrogant, rude, misogynist. Can.Not.Stand.Him. Switch channels the second he comes on.

Oh and he treats his wife like shit.

Davros · 11/10/2025 22:48

I used to really like him but I’m so BORED of him popping up on everything

TheprettiestvillageinChristendom · 11/10/2025 22:49

Obviously he isn’t funny either. Really creepy vibe to him.

Hmm no. He’s the comedian not me

Who are your faves op

TheprettiestvillageinChristendom · 11/10/2025 22:50

The grumpiness is real. And believe me, it isn’t endearing.

Are you his wife?

TheprettiestvillageinChristendom · 11/10/2025 22:51

He’s not remotely like Jack Dee, there’s a bit of vulnerability to Jack Dee. Not Ranganathen. He is cocky as fuck.

Snorydog · 11/10/2025 22:51

He is on a lot, jokes himself about overexposure… I think he’s great on the radio… check out the wolf and owl podcast he does either Tom Davis… it’s a wonderful example of male friendship

Fizbosshoes · 11/10/2025 22:51

Rob (beckett) and Romesh "versus".....is hilarious.
I also find him funny on the radio

@Redpeachha ha - yes I can see why you would think that. But no, I wouldn’t go near him with a barge pole.

Rainymoondays · 11/10/2025 22:55

There is that whole ‘crap grumpy male’ trope that I really dislike. The moaning about your mum and your wife shit.

OP posts:
Edenmum2 · 11/10/2025 22:55

He’s great, especially love the wolf and owl podcast he does with Tom Davis. LOVED misadventures, sad that there won’t be anymore episodes and also miss the Ranganation. Each to their own but I think he’s great.

Who are your favourite comedians OP?

TheprettiestvillageinChristendom · 11/10/2025 22:55

Now Richard Ayoade - I’d be amazed if he wasn’t just a lovely, grounded (but clearly very bright) bloke.
