Men violently preventing women from congregating, communicating and networking, is what the Taliban do. Why is it happening in the UK?

The FiLiA Women's Liberation Conference was targeted overnight, the attackers even live tweeted the violence.

Local politicians are so far silent.

This is literally terrorism, using fear and violence to shut down legitimate peaceful discussions.

Live: Venue vandalised and protesters demonstrate at feminist conference

The Brighton Centre has been vandalised as a feminist conference begins there today.

Exactly. Even the violent aggressive males attacking women is unfortunately not all that surprising - what's noteworthy and appalling is Sian Berry suggesting women are not free to meet and discuss women's rights in certain places in the UK. She seems to suggest she attempted to intervene with the booking - if true, this could lay her open to legal action.

I would be so pleased if she were to face a legal sanction for that. It certainly sounds like an anti democratic action that an elected representative should not be doing on the down low.

I agree, and wonder if the EHRC guidance with the inevitable backlash from transactivists will change anything.

Like if this Bashback gang bricked Keir Starmer's windows, would he say anything about it.

I think, little by little, the TRAs are wrecking their position. Not sure how long that will take to trickle down to Labour leadership though.

ArabellaSaurus · 11/10/2025 10:41

They smashed Wes Streetings' office windows. He has condemned the vandalism and intimidation at FILIA.

Petitchat · 11/10/2025 10:44

I can't believe we've gone back into ludicrous times again, such as how dare women speak in certain areas.

Disappointing, thought we'd moved past all that....

Are some people seriously making the argument that Brighton belongs to the TRAs and any women who dare to express reality in Brighton are fair game targets for window smashing bullies?

There's a phrase about leopards and faces that fits here.

Yes, they are really making this argument. Brighton belongs to the troons and their handmaidens. I wonder what other areas of the Uk belong to special interest groups? There are some interesting scenarios that come to mind where gays and trans folk are not going to be too welcome. Justified?

Sian Berry appears to be making precisely this point.

Yes on here and the politician referenced.

lcakethereforeIam · 11/10/2025 10:49

As though if the conference had taken place at anywhere except Brighton it would have passed off completely peacefully 🙄 All the tras would have been washing their hair.

Shineonyoucrazy · 11/10/2025 10:54

The TransRights Movement has a proud history of violence, promoting violence and threats of violence including sexual violence towards anyone, particularly women, who oppose their views. TRAs have the absolute right to non violent protest but they don’t want this - the clue’s in the name “Bash Back” ffs.

I think Labour leadership are hoping this issue will go away quietly through the actions of others, like the SC and the NHS, because if it came to a vote it would tear their party apart. Plus they're aware from polling that the electorate mostly doesn't believe in "her penis" ideology.

Yes, various people have suggested that KS is a tough bloke, but his actions - with the exception of his reaction to the Southport crisis - do not suggest that he is. He is a cautious type who has so far not managed to unite his party enough to put country ahead of constituency, or managed to put through what he wants sneakily behind the scenes. Looks like toast to me.

Also looks like women’s rights - to assembly, free speech and protection from violence, sexual and otherwise - has already split the left. Look at Corby Sultana Party.

Agreed, from their perspective sticking with the sympathetic eunuch character as a representation of trans would have a much better tactic than handing over the comms to violent masked men.

JaquelineHide · 11/10/2025 11:45

This somehow makes sense in TRAs' heads. They obviously don't know anything about Filia.

Anyone who would like to make a complaint to the GPEW about Berry's statements on X, here is their Code of Conduct

There is also the option of reporting Berry as an MP for breaching parliamentary standards. I wonder if an FOI would reveal what was said between her and the council.

Funnily enough. When typing that I reminded myself of one of the Glinner tweets that got him arrested. Not the 'balls' one. Just imagine that 'washing' is a stand in for something else, with a similar spelling and 'their hair' is utterly redundant.

Maybe he will change the NHS website back to allowing the word "women" rather than "people with a cervix" now?

Hilarious. They have no idea what the Filia conference even is. And from what I’ve seen most of them think the op of that thread is a GC infiltrator trying to stir/persuade them that GLP are talking bullshit.

He’s not generally listened to too much as he understands the Supreme Court judgment and is anti GLP because he sees them as the bunch of hopeless grifters they are.

These men really don't like women talking, do they? 😁

There must be a name for it? Is it "womenphobia"
"chatphobia"
"scared of women phobia"

Noodledog · 11/10/2025 17:27

Inspired by Kimura's dogged defense of male violence against women, does anyone know if it's possible to make donations to FiLiA?
