To put Halloween decorations up tomorrow?

Dd is finally of an age where she’s excited about Halloween. She’s very excited to decorate the house (I have some old decorations from a Halloween party I had a few years ago). AIBU to put them up with her tomorrow? Is it too early?

Do what you want mate

SomeEsotericJoke · 30/09/2025 14:35

You'll ruin the fun of it! After the decorations have been up for a week you'll have stopped paying attention to them. Halloween does not need a month, nothing needs a month! Hold fire, pop them up a few days before and go full halloween for a shorter time. It'll be much more exciting.

Gentlydoesit2 · 30/09/2025 14:37

It's September. Halloween is ONE DAY in October. Put them up a few days before and down the day after.

Mushroo · 30/09/2025 14:38

We do autumnal decorations from tomorrow (non-spooky pumpkins, autumn candles) and then only do proper Halloween the week of.

Ohhellnooo · 30/09/2025 14:38

Do it. Halloween is my Christmas. I love it. Mine would be going up tomorrow, but we are currently in the midst of building work! Nothing but plasterboard and brick for my entire downstairs,
so no decorations this year.

XenoBitch · 30/09/2025 14:39

Do it if it will make you both happy.
There will be people getting their xmas decs out in a few weeks.

ComfortFoodCafe · 30/09/2025 14:40

No youll be sick of it come Halloween and probably ruin the fun. Are you one of those who buys easter eggs at christmas? No? Exactly.

Tomorrow isn’t…

AlmostAJillSandwich · 30/09/2025 14:43

I'd do halloween all year if i could, its my absolute favourite!

missedtherainbow · 30/09/2025 14:54

Ours are up a few more left to put up this week! Life is short do what makes you and your family happy it’s not going to impact anyone else.

TeenToTwenties · 30/09/2025 14:56

Halloween is 1 day in my book. Decorations go up on the day then down on the 1st Nov.

I suggest you wait until half term at least.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 30/09/2025 14:58

I mean obviously you can do what you want, but I’ve always thought Halloween was just a day, not a season. So the decorations go up for a day - maybe the week beforehand in inside your house, but definitely not a month.

Especially with a really little child - they will be bored of it in a few days never mind a month.

It’s not really a major celebration either, is it!

dailyconniptions · 30/09/2025 14:59

It's not even a day, it's an evening!

GarlicBreadStan · 30/09/2025 15:00

We've already got some up for my son 😂 had them up for about a week now, and my son certainly isn't getting bored of them. If anything, it's making him even more excited for Halloween

It's not even a day, it's an evening!

Precisely.

Still @Milliemoons you can do what you want. Why does it matter what anyone else thinks?

Bore off. My point is... Why are we even talking about Halloween in September?!

Complet · 30/09/2025 15:14

Just put them up now, along with the Christmas tree, some Easter eggs, maybe a couple of valentine love hearts. Keep them up all year if you enjoy it that much.

I'd rather talk about Halloween in September than about Christmas in September, to be honest. And it's barely even September now. It's October tomorrow. It's close enough. Are you not really a Halloween type of person?

It is September 30th. October is tomorrow!

There have been post about Christmas yet heaven forbid there be a few about Halloween.

Christmas Day is only one day but people make a massive deal over it every year for months on end.

It's not even a day, it's an evening!

It is on a Friday so the start of the weekend this year and during the kids’ week off.

There are Halloween events being promoted in my area for it because of that.

Whammyyammy · 30/09/2025 15:22

Im.in the U.S atm and loads of houses decorated already

CantThinkOfAnotherUsernane · 30/09/2025 15:24

One of my neighbours has decorated the outside of her house already. If it makes you and dd happy then do it

Catpiece · 30/09/2025 15:26

I’ve got a few little ghosties and pumpkins in amongst my autumn leaves lights. I bought them before the shelves were stripped in Tesco. They make a nice little display and I don’t care if it’s not Halloween yet.

Soontobe60 · 30/09/2025 15:45

No 😂

LorrieTosh · 30/09/2025 15:47

My house has a distinct dark academia vibe, so it has a slight halloween feel to it all year round. I wait to do the full decorating silliness until three or four days before Halloween, but I’ll still have a couple of extra bits out from tomorrow (and it’ll get increasingly spooky throughout the month).

It’s your house, there’s no harm in it, do what makes you happy!
