Just a chat to understand what’s going on with the influx of England and UJ flags all over the streets?

thoughts?
where did it stem from?
is it making you uncomfortable? (It is, me, but not entirely sure why)

Is it racist to hang your national flag with pride? No. But the racists are weaponising it to express hate against foreigners and non nationals. That is their intent. So anyone that does this is going to appear racist.

Agree. My neighbours have always flown a flag - it looks naff but not much I can do about it. They’ve now added another England flag and a Union Jack to the mix so I’m definitely thinking they’re massive racists.

What is 'far right' about wanting a goverment who looks after and prioritizes his own people?

I call it the most basic job any goverment should do. Make sure your own british people are housed, have good education, have good medical access, are protected by a well funded police force from those that would hurt us.

This week I tried to get my first doctors appointment in a long time. Found out I can't get one. I can phone up every day and beg alongside the other 100 people who also can't get one (you know sort of like a refugee begging for a bowl of rice). That's certainly how it has made me feel anyway. I've given up because it seems hopeless. I'm not going to A&E cos it's not an emergency more of a long term issue affecting my quality of life thing. I can get a private appointment for £120 for 20 minutes (before cost of treatment/drugs etc)

Meanwhile I am watching on various social media as foreign young men gloat, yes GLOAT over the internet at the luxurious life they are having showing others the lovely hotel room they have with free food and access to doctors and dentists. They are giving step by step instructions to their fellow young men on how to get here and join the gravy train.

I am white, british, university education, professional career and I am fucking raging.

We are being made complete mugs of.

There is a big difference between a young man coming with no education from a country where men rule woman to ride the UK gravy train and a polish/whatever family relocating here through the correct channels, buying a house, working in a job and integrating into the community and having children.

I feel like buying a giant flag and flying it outside my house but I don't think it would achieve anything but I totally understand those who are.

Isn't it strange how they pass through France and many other countries to get here but don't stay in any of them. Why. I mean it's safe in France. Why risk your life in a small boat to get to the UK. Well the french goverment is giving them far less rights, far less luxurious accomodation than the UK. So no they are not happy just to be in a safe country, they want the UK gravy train.

Hands up anyone who is waiting on a hospital appointment.

Hands up anyone who's child is waiting to access mental health services.

Hands up anyone who's child has additional needs and doesn't have a place in a special school for them

Hands up anyone who's kid has left school but can't get a job

Hands up anyone who is in rented accomodation with no hope of getting your own home.

Hands up anyone who is struggling to pay bills while working full time.

Hands up anyone who has needed an ambulance recently and got told it would be 6 hours.

Hands up anyone who has gone to A&E because they couldn't get a GP appointment only to find out it is chaos cos nobody can get a doctors appointment.

Hands up anyone who's car has banged down into a pothole this week

Hands up anyone who's council cut the grass so rarely that they are constantly wading through overgrown grass.

Hands up anyone who's food bill is going up and up to the point it is really worrying you.

Hands up anyone who has been robbed/assaulted/hurt and has called the police only to be told they have nobody to send out because they are so short staffed.

Now go and watch the young men lounging about their paid for 4 star hotel rooms, laughing about how easy and great their life is now they have reached the paradise that is the UK. The country which gives them more rights than those of it's own citizens. I don't think they can believe their luck.

And all these situations are the fault of asylum seekers?

MyGreyStork · 30/08/2025 13:38

The UK is built on immigration, the only reason we are here today is because our ancestors came from mainland Europe. Everyone in the UK came from somewhere else. Our species originated in Africa, spread to Europe then eventually the UK. We’re all immigrants. Anyone with a brain cell should be able to understand that.

it's all over tik tok and you tube. It was from a hotel in London but there are hotels all over with them. Many of them have security guards outside to protect them.

I mean how arrogant do you have to be to be milking the UK gravy train and actually record it and put it on the internet gloating and laughing showing how nice it all is and encouraging more of your fellow young man to join them cos the UK is fuckin pushover.

Be angry at the government. Thank good for all the foreign healthcare workers in the NHS for doing their job because British people are either too lazy or to thick to do the job themselves.

no it's the fault of our goverment who is not looking after his own people.

The young men in the boats are looking out for themselves. Can't blame them for that.

I mean if someone is a doormat then you give them a good kicking right. It's human nature.

Oh I am angry at the goverment.

I have no problem with non british people coming here through LEGAL channels, working hard and integrating. Paying tax etc that benefits the country. Learning trades that benefit the country.

I am talking about these piss takers who are posting themselves on the internet gloating.

Meanwhile the police are arresting the UK citizens who are voicing objections.

As I understand it, anyone who thinks that immigration is currently an issue that requires attention is a thick as pigshit gammon.

And it seems the best people who are very intelligent regularly call other human beings thick as pigshit gammon.

This seems correct, doesnt it.

But immigration laws are a fairly new thing considering our ancestors first came here over 900,000 years ago. The first legal laws were in 1905. You’re an immigrant yourself! Did your ancestors fill out paper work and get given legal access? 😆😆😆😆

Excellent summation.

Actually no, not anyone that thinks immigration is an issue, just the simpletons putting flags on lampposts.

I believe they are given basic phones and a small phone / WiFi package.

That's because everything they need to do in order to follow the correct channels, seek asylum and remain in the country are computer or phone based, rather than paper forms etc. How are they supposed to complete those obligations without a phone?

I'm sure they all have far more pressing matters to attend to than posting on Mumsnet.

The IMF bailout was in last weekends Telegraph.

The country is about to enter what they call 'the doom loop' and there is real concern the IMF will have to bail the UK out. In which case they will set conditions one of which will likely be to rejoin the EU. They will also set our spending budgets and so expect NHS/benefits etc to be slashed even more than they are currently.

The Autumn budget is going to be critical.

SeptaUnellasBell · 30/08/2025 14:14

Well, if the idiots that are upset, offended and uncomfortable by a flag (which is entirely reasonable to have flying in the country it belongs to) would shut up banging on about it or get a grip then the minority that are flying them as a ‘point’ would get bored. But due to likes of people like Matt Haig who hasn’t lived in the real world since he was born, getting into a flap about it, the (again) minority would stop painting flags on roundabouts because they wouldn’t be getting the bite they wanted.

A couple people have said it’s nice for people to display their national flag.. what if other people whose motherlands are not UK were displaying theirs, would that be ok?
playing devils advocate that’s all

I believe this was actually the reason for the rise in British/English flags. Birmingham council wanted to remove the British/English ones but feared removing Palestinian ones without protection.

(For what it’s worth I don’t care who flies a flag and what’s on that specific flag!)

Have you ever wondered if your laughter is based off your thoughts being a tad astray? If your partner is upset that the loo is dirty do you roll about laughing and tell them There were no loos at all two hundred years ago, chortle chortle?

Relevance is a thing that is worth considering. Giggle giggle.
