Has anyone seen them? Where people send their location and table number (and a sob story) and ask for free drinks or food to be sent to them?

aibu to think this is a bit cheeky? When we could all do with a free drink/platter in these cozzy livs? (Apologies but it makes me chuckle)

Yes, it's a bit of fun.

The aspect I enjoy the most is females are more successful than males apparently.

It's been doing the rounds a while. What I'm finding uncomfortable these days (other than cozzy livs) is children seem to be making an appearance in them now. People are actually putting pictures of their kids and begging for food.

I really like when they travel to a city and feed the homeless I think that's a great idea.

Wetherspoon staff often, and rightfully, ban people for this, it causes all kinds of mess ups and confusion and is just a pain in the arse.

Its nothing new. Theres been FB groups for years. Its just a bit of fun

My nieces do it with me when theyre at Spoons 🙄 Theyre students so I dont mind buying a round of drinks now & again. I wouldnt do it with strangers though

It’s so cringey, I’m embarrassed for the people who take part.

We saw a table at our local wetherspoons doing this this and they got sent a jug of chicken gravy and a side of beans! Me and my DH couldn't stop laughing. The staff on the other hand were not impressed and they got asked to leave!! It is a bit silly, I've never participated in it or asked anybody to send drinks to my table 😊

This used to be a big thing but people were being sent side orders of peas instead of drinks.

Somehow my Facebook algorithm has recently decided that because I’ve stopped to read one of the posts as I was intrigued, it’s all I want to see now. Along with weird dating groups (clearly vulnerable people being made fun of in the comment section).

The game is the game, same as the group about ‘splitting the G’ in a Guinness. The more boob in the photo, more likes or in this case more orders. I hate the ones where someone brings out their disabled friend and says ‘Jimmy’s first time out at the pub keep them coming, no peas please’ - just so wrong

Yes this is exactly what happened to me! I am amused of the tales of the peas though

No one is being forced to buy anyone else anything. They’re doing it by free choice.

I've ordered for DD several times when she's been broke and she's sent me a message with her table number 🙄

I've been playing within my friendship group for years.

I've only played once on the FB group - met some Americans and they didn't believe the game was a thing. I posted that we needed to show these tourists some UK hospitality, and people very kindly did. It blew the tourists minds that strangers were sending us shots.

And because I received, I sent some drinks to some strangers another day. No sob story, just two friends out for a catch up.

I find it a lot of fun and it's good to be kind. Each to their own.

You don't have to buy anyone anything. It is a bit of fun.
