Has anyone seen them? Where people send their location and table number (and a sob story) and ask for free drinks or food to be sent to them?

aibu to think this is a bit cheeky? When we could all do with a free drink/platter in these cozzy livs? (Apologies but it makes me chuckle)

I don't see what's wrong with it. Nobody is forced to join in.

TheGodOfSmallPotatoes · 17/08/2025 21:07

I don’t believe I once said or suggested anyone was being ‘forced’ just think it’s a bit cheeky 😂😂

I do it every now and then - will order maybe a hot chocolate or a juice to their table…

Edited

But if you think it’s cheeky don’t partake.

I don’t! But I do wish to discuss it!

We did this about 6 or 7 years ago just among friends on Facebook and gor
mainly sent fried eggs and pots of mushy peas 🤣

It's been doing the rounds a while. What I'm finding uncomfortable these days (other than cozzy livs) is children seem to be making an appearance in them now. People are actually putting pictures of their kids and begging for food.

"They don't believe me that this works!"

I think it's gross.

The idea is that you pass the goodwill on by buying for someone else another time. It's for fun. So not cheeky imo. It's not something I'd get involved with, I'm rarely in the pub, but each to their own.

Yeah…but honestly do people reciprocate? Absolutely each to their own but it has a beggy vibe no?

Never heard of it. What is cozzy livs?

It is not really a beggy vibe when there is a specific groups set up for it. To join, you have to add 5 other members.

A tiny bit maybe? It's extremely easy to scroll past and ignore. There's no guilt or self consciousness in doing that. Nobody knows you saw it.

BarMonaco · 17/08/2025 22:12

I like cozzy livs

Cost of living crisis

Twistedfirestarters · 17/08/2025 22:15

Cozzy livs is short for cost of living

LOL at cozzy livs

Catsandcannedbeans · 17/08/2025 22:40

Yes. Me and DH used to be a managers there and I would actively take joy in throwing the cheeky bastards out. Bane of the staffs life. Especially when they’re ordering stupid shit from the kitchen with minutes to close when you’ve just cleaned the fryers.

PringlesTube · 17/08/2025 22:44

It’s definitely cheeky. Most of the ones I’ve seen always feature something along the lines of “we’ve never played before but promise we will pay it forward in the future…” yeah sure you will.

Username8364648 · 17/08/2025 19:01

I really like when they travel to a city and feed the homeless I think that's a great idea.

That's the group I am a moderator on. They are now in a collaboration with a SEN charity. And currently helping families with meals during the holidays.

GrandTheftWalrus · 17/08/2025 22:49

Also our group bans anyone under 18 or non drinking for any reason. And anyone who sends stupid orders are banned as well. We have a family group for kids which is strictly no alcohol.

The group creator has been on BBC news etc and in the wetherspoons magazine for his homeless feeds.

OneLoyalMauveMentor · 17/08/2025 23:20

Why do people get kicked out for playing this “game”? I don’t understand the whole thing so I must be old

ExitPursuedByBearGrylls · 18/08/2025 00:19

I’m with you OP but at the same time I feel bad for the people who post and don’t get a response.
