Living alone best things

Singlehouseholdjoy · 30/07/2025 19:46

Living alone now for 3 years
Best things:

Nice food only for me
My own decorating style
Always a clean toilet
Only watch my own TV shows
No horrible smells

How about you other single dwellers?

Can sing to your hearts content. I dance around my living room all the time.

nobody talking through programmes you’re trying to pay attention to!

devildeepbluesea · 30/07/2025 19:50

Can go to bed before 8, like I’m doing now, with no one moaning.

CleanShirt · 30/07/2025 19:51

Nobody "accidentally" eats the nice food I buy
Decorated exactly how I want
Absolute silence when I want it (and the opposite when I don't.
Not sharing a bed, except with my cat!

HundredMilesAnHour · 30/07/2025 19:53

I can do whatever I want when I want. 24/7. Not having to consider anyone else is addictive (admittedly I do consider my neighbours as I may live alone but I’m not an arsehole).

TheNightingalesStarling · 30/07/2025 19:55

Being able to read or watch crap TV in bed without disturbing anyone.

Menopants · 30/07/2025 19:57

The utter freedom

IMissSparkling · 30/07/2025 20:00

I don't need to tidy up as my mess isn't bothering anyone else, and I always know exactly what food is left.

Teaandscone · 30/07/2025 20:03

When I tidy up, it stays tidy.

Crushed23 · 30/07/2025 20:08

Absolutely everything.

I can’t think of a single downside except cost.

Doingtheboxerbeat · 30/07/2025 20:08

If something goes missing in my home, I know it's definitely in there and someone else hasn't accidentally picked it up.

Deciding to pull out the mini trampoline or Hula hoop or my ecliptical in my lounge for a random workout while binging my favourite shows.

Loads more I can't think of, but I would hate to live with me 😂.

Oh that first one is my new favourite actually!

I just…. Know where things are. Because they are always in the place I left them, or the place I’ve decided they live.

nothing ever runs out unexpectedly either

TwistedWonder · 30/07/2025 20:11

Everything! I can’t think of a single reason why I’d ever live with anyone again.

Icantremembermyusername · 30/07/2025 20:20

I don’t live alone. I live with my adorably tidy daughter. DP visits often. I keep a bag for life in the hall and whenever I find random shit he leaves here I drop it in the bag and every couple of weeks I take it to his house and leave it in his hall. Very satisfying!
Best thing about living “alone” - not looking after other people’s shit!

Piemam · 30/07/2025 20:29

Clean bedding whenever you want! Own choice of music and affiliated dancing, ha ha! Reserving treats just for you, knowing that they'll be there until you decide it's that specific treat time. Clean toilet/ bath/ shower as and when. No comments on your food or alcohol intake.

Pigmum86 · 30/07/2025 20:41

Leaving the bathroom door open when you’re having a number 2

Cloverforever · 30/07/2025 20:50

All of the above, and more. I don't know why the divorce rate isn't higher than it is!

Singlehouseholdjoy · 30/07/2025 20:55

I'm loving all these

Chocaholic1216 · 30/07/2025 21:02

Watching what you want on tv without someone moaning.

Having undisturbed sleep.

no mess or bad smells

the total freedom to spend your days off exactly as you want whether it’s lounging in bed most of the day with trashy tv and a good book, or having friends over for drinks and dinner, or watching your favourite film with your favourite takeaway and just feeling completely at peace

Disturbia81 · 30/07/2025 21:03

So many…
Don’t have to share the bed with a sweaty smelly noisy man.
Don’t have to talk to another adult once I shut my door
House stays clean and tidy
No resentment for them not doing their share
No compromise
No smoke
No expectations on me for affection or sex (I love both these but when I want them)
None of their family or friends visiting or wanting to stay
I can walk around without getting my bum slapped when I bend over or boobs squeezed etc
I have space for my van on the drive
I can have who I want over
Totally my own taste in decor, garden etc
Be the mum I want to be around the kids
No-one waiting for me to come home
Read my phone in bed for as long as I want

I think many would love to by all the moaning I hear about husbands, but can’t because of money and/or wanting to keep the family together

Icepinkeskimo · 30/07/2025 21:08

Where do I start?
The remote control is mine, mine all mine!
You never have to hear “what’s for dinner?”
You can totally go back to bed at 11am on a Sunday because you need a nap.
Your bathroom smells beautiful, no toothpaste splatters on the mirror, no dirty underwear (unless it’s your own) left on the floor.
No towels left soaking wet and just slung around.
Peace and quiet, play your music as loud as you want.
So many beautiful little pieces of happiness, all around.

Disturbia81 · 30/07/2025 21:08

Crushed23 · 30/07/2025 20:08

I was worried about cost but actually I’m saving money, he spent loads.

21ZIGGY · 30/07/2025 21:09

I play backstreet boys whenever I want
I watch whatever I want
I drink wine when I want
I generally do what I want
It's heaven

Honestly, the posts complaining about husbands and boyfriends on here just solidify my solitary life
