Living alone best things

Singlehouseholdjoy · 30/07/2025 19:46

Living alone now for 3 years
Best things:

Nice food only for me
My own decorating style
Always a clean toilet
Only watch my own TV shows
No horrible smells

How about you other single dwellers?

Been single for about 6 years now. Absolutely no desire to ever be in a relationship again, let alone live with anyone.

My top 3 reasons....
Not sharing my bed. I never got used to this in nearly 20 years of marriage, or in my next long term relationship.
I love my bed, its my sanctuary.

Never having to justify how I spend my money, how many holidays I take or how often I eat out.
After years of a controlling marriage, this is bliss.

Not being accountable for where I am, who im with or when I will be home. Love this.

My adult children say to me, you don't want to grow old alone mum. I reply that I really do!

Do you think any men will respond in this thread to say they prefer living alone?

TeeBee · 06/09/2025 07:55

All of the things.

The only thing hard is money at times. I have to live very careful.

Same, but more time for a side hustle?

Mine is sort of adjacent to my salaried job and can be lucrative, especially when I'm home alone. (Oh lord that sounds like I'm a cam girl or something. Not what I meant but you do you).

No football
Not being asked “Where’s…”
No football
No football
No football

I have to watch pressure as I am autistic so just get by by living modestly. In 5 more years my state pension will kick in but I still plan to work part time alongside it.

Reading all these makes me think it's time to get a new patio.

Or the football I want to watch and not someone else’s crappy team that I have no interest in!

I live with my DH and three children in a lovely house. It really is lovely and I’m fortunate to have a much longed for family blah blah blah.

But when I dwell on the past and think about my life I was never happier than when I was single and living on my own in a lovely little house in my 20s. It’s bonkers because if you asked anyone which is the nicer house and area it’s my current house by a mile. But some days I dream of my old life in that house - young, single, loving work, partying, the odd gentleman caller, so much independence and freedom to do whatever I wanted.

whistlesandbells · 06/09/2025 20:40

Quiet and being able to eat whatever you like without any discussion.

Hedjwitch · 06/09/2025 20:45

I hope I get to do this one day. I'm so ready for it.

You read on you tube all the time how many single men prefer being alone.

After a long term relationship a lot of mature single men only need women for sex and nothing more. They find them online and just meet up occasionally.

I can imagine that if they are situated the same as us, ie own place , no kids/ grown-up kids, own income, and the place how they like it etc then they would be as happy to be living alone as we are.

The peace of not having to worry about another person and deal with their issues!

And having the entire bed to myself (and pets).
