Living alone best things

Singlehouseholdjoy · 30/07/2025 19:46

Living alone now for 3 years
Best things:

Nice food only for me
My own decorating style
Always a clean toilet
Only watch my own TV shows
No horrible smells

How about you other single dwellers?

The food you saved in the fridge for tomorrow nights dinner (time saving exercise) is still there!

Zero snoring.

100% tv remote possession.
Never having to watch Coronation Street ever again 🎉🎉🎉🎉.

I could probably go on all night about this…

Dimpleu · 30/07/2025 21:19

Farting whenever I like. Very liberating

Cloverforever · 30/07/2025 21:33

I made myself a pornstar martini when I got home, in my lovely glass. I then had beans on toast for tea, because i couldn't be bothered to cook. I'm now in bed about to read my book. And there's nobody here to criticise a thing. It's bliss 😊

Lovetheoeace · 30/07/2025 21:42

i love the peace and harmony. I can watch want I want, eat what I want, live in my pjs when I want, sit in the garden with a book and enjoy a glass of wine and don’t have to worry about anyone else. And I have just booked a lodge with a hot tub for a week for myself and my beloved dog. Bliss. Why involve anyone else?

Praying4Peace · 30/07/2025 21:46

No sex and no housework!
Only when I want to do it

YetanotherNC25 · 30/07/2025 23:40

Loving these! For me it’s:
Silence
Clean tidy house (when the kids are away)
Sleeping alone / no snoring (except from me)
Walking around the house naked
Cooking what I want to eat
Watching what I want on tv, when I want to
Staying in or going out as I please
Not having to compromise and do things I don’t fancy to keep someone else happy.
Everything is where I put it
Life is calm and chilled, no arguments or stress
Using the good glasses/crockery and enjoying what I bought because I like it

Augustus40 · 11/08/2025 13:40

No noise no interruptions. Can eat and cook what I like. Can spend my money how I see fit. Can go to sleep the hour I desire. Wake up the time that suits me.

Ds who is now 20 is often at his girlfriend these days as well as his full-time job. This makes my life lovely and peaceful.

I am lucky I have learned self sufficiency all these years too. Rarely bored rarely lonely.

starmoonsun · 11/08/2025 14:08

This sounds blissful.....dreaming of the day until I can live alone.

civetcat · 11/08/2025 14:27

Everything. Freedom, privacy and control. Sleeping/eating how/when I want. Also not having to tell anyone every time I go out and say where I'm going. Not having to negotiate/compromise.
I have a husband and he lives alone too (although we stay at each others' homes regularly)

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 11/08/2025 14:31

Being able to watch something on TV without someone falling asleep beside you then waking up and saying 'what's going on here, then?' and expecting a full plot synopsis.
Being able to sit and read a book for as long as I want without someone sulking that they are being ignored.
Taking the dog for a walk and going as far as dog and I want without having to check the time because 'someone' will be wondering where we are.
Cleaning and tidying when I want, not because someone has complained about dust.
Always knowing how many toilet rolls are left and not going to take the last one and then finding it's been used without a word being said.
Only having to wash up my own dishes...

In fact, there are so many I could be here all day! Six years single and would NEVER live with a man again.

FOJN · 11/08/2025 14:37

The best thing about living alone is living alone. I don't spend time wishing that the people I live with would just fuck off and leave me alone. I like people as long as I don't have to live with them.

Oh that resonates. I absolutely love my friends and family but not under my roof.

Im very social but i absolutely relish getting back home, locking the door and soaking up the silence

TangerinePlate · 11/08/2025 15:13

Space.
My own space and lots of it.

Peace.

Not having to deal with moods, sulking, shouting.

Peace.

No more jobs waiting to be done for years or accusations of “nagging”. No more asking for permission or hearing “no” because he said so.
No demands.

Kids are fine,we’re all more relaxed and smiley. We love each other.

No duties or obligations inflicted on me.

Peace❤️

This thread is really helpful. I’m started a thread about how lonely I have been feeling of late, and all these posts are reminding me of the up side of living alone!

Singlehouseholdjoy · 11/08/2025 17:03

Yes it's great to chat on here. Loneliness definitely a thing we have to navigate

brieandcrackers · 11/08/2025 17:13

Being able to walk around and sleep in just my pants during a heatwave - just moved in with family and it’s the luxury I miss most!

StrawberrySquash · 11/08/2025 17:17

Teaandscone · 30/07/2025 20:03

When I tidy up, it stays tidy.

I wish!

Augustus40 · 06/09/2025 04:54

The only thing hard is money at times. I have to live very careful.

aurynne · 06/09/2025 06:07

Burping and farting loudly

Bonjovispyjamas · 06/09/2025 06:20

No one snoring and farting in bed next to me or being a bed hog.

Allisgoodtoday · 06/09/2025 06:31

I love every one of these, and couldn't agree more. There is nothing, NOTHING nicer than living alone.
I've been on my own for several years now and wouldn't ever change it.
The choice, the total freedom, not having to justify myself to anyone...I could go on and on.
And I'm never lonely. Not only do I enjoy my own company but I have lots of friends and do lots of activities, and can have friends over/meet up for coffee etc. as often as I like without being criticised, or worrying about getting back for a partner.
Utter bliss!

MySweetMaggie · 06/09/2025 06:34

I live with my two children, but I love being single and not living with a partner. The best thing is my home is safe. No shouting, no breaking things, no sudden mood changes or drinking alcohol. Peace and quiet.

InterestedDad37 · 06/09/2025 06:47

Absolute freedom of choice 😊

LaurieFairyCake · 06/09/2025 06:49

I imagine sitting around in your pants in the hot weather is one of them

curious79 · 06/09/2025 06:52

I‘m not single but I envy/miss:

  • not being woken up by snoring (I’m beyond exhausted)
  • having freedom to decorate as I wish
  • freedom to eat as I wish
  • a fridge just full of things I like
  • going to exhibitions / parties / socialising however and in whatever way I want
  • so freedom basically!!!!!
Single ladies - unless he/she is bloody fantastic, enjoy it!!!!!!
