Chub rub...help!

posting here as don't know where else to post.

I'm away on holiday in a couple of weeks, and I've bought some long dresses, I'm not a small gal so could do with some anti rub shorts.

Any advice on what the best ones are? Ones that don't ride up your leg, and not too clingy

Chaffree, also you can get this amazing cream called Lanacaine and if you put it on BEFORE you go out they don't rub 👍

MaryGreenhill · 03/07/2025 22:10

I just wear cut off old leggings tbh

BrendaSmall · 03/07/2025 22:15

Pound shop or primark does Lycra shorts and I wear them under dresses
be very cautious with snag shorts/tights, I can’t wear them they’re too long in the leg and every time I wore them I got thrush, the material is horrible and snags so easily

CrushingOnRubies · 03/07/2025 22:35

Mitchum roll on deodorant! Wore a dress to work today and now regretting not putting any on

happyinherts · 03/07/2025 22:36

All these shorts are far too hot and sweaty in this weather. Just use Vaseline - it will protect you all day and you'll feel so much cooler.

DumpedByText · 03/07/2025 22:44

I got a two pack off Amazon, they do the job.

I bought some from M&S and they are excellent. Came in a 2 pack. They are quite sheer and are comfortable
they do not ride up

I bought these ones too after being recommended them on here & totally agree, they’re great! I’ve now bought multiple packs in black, white & nude so that I’ve always got a pair whenever I need them.

Growuppeople · 03/07/2025 23:22

O I read the dust/powder from lush works!

Thereislightattheendofthetunnel · 04/07/2025 00:22

Please don’t use the balm in stick from primark. It’s awful. 3.5£ wasted, antichafe stick in an orange container

Alwayswonderedwhy · 04/07/2025 02:46

I love the m&s ones. Really light fabric and don't ride up.

MayaPinion · 04/07/2025 03:38

I hate the thick ‘tights’ feel of cycling/chub run shorts and prefer the loose light cotton type pyjama shorts that Primark sells. I wear them instead of knickers and let the air circulate 😁 You could also try men’s woven boxer shorts.

Mumandnanaandwife · 04/07/2025 05:44

I use stick deodorant on the inside of my thighs and it works brilliantly for me.

I don't like Snag's marketing. I've got chub rub shorts from Better Tights and Big Bloomers Company. They're all exactly the same, though.

May I ask why?

You must be joking ! 🤷‍♀️

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 04/07/2025 10:13

i don’t find the shorts too hot and sweaty at all! I’ve got the Snag and M&S chub rub pants and the materials are so light and breathable you don’t even know you’ve got them on!

happyinherts · 04/07/2025 11:54

Why?

Schlepping about with greasy thighs in hot weather ? 🤮

ThePainGrowsStronger · 04/07/2025 12:01

These are great - not really shapeware but high waisted and smoothing so thighs 'glide' rather than the 'friction' you get from Snags.

You only need a tiny amount - no greasy thighs at all - beats sweat and soreness. Google it before you say I'm joking.

Primark ribbed shorts are fantastic about £4 a pair come in all colours in various sizes they also do some plain cycling type shorts
I wear both these styles under long dresses on holiday and never had an issue since :)

AdoraBell · 04/07/2025 14:27

Compeed do a stick, similar to Vaseline, I use that on my legs and it stops friction. It’s designed to avoid shoes rubbing.

Strobbery · 04/07/2025 14:30

All the purpose made stuff is expensive and unnecessary.
I use, depending on outfit or weather:

Cotton/lycra cycling shorts or cut down leggings from Primark, for a couple of quid. Or free if you're recycling old leggings.

Asda liquid talc.

Dove stick deodorant.

kittykarate · 04/07/2025 14:33

I used to get major chub rub - vaseline wouldn't last more than a few minutes for me, and I'd be reapplying all day as it somehow vanished. I think if you only have a little bit of rub, then vaseline will do you ok.

The best stuff for me is Body Glide runners anti chafe stick, it's a thicker, waxier texture. Even then, it would only be good enough for walking around a little, rather than a full day city tramping. My best (but overpriced) recommendation is Sloggi Basic Longs. Basically super soft, cotton lyrcra knickers that go down to mid thigh. They don't ride up or down, don't have that strange 'woolly' feel that some of the tights based ones do.

Falingoth · 04/07/2025 14:36

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Lanacane.
