Usually I love the sun / heat.. get out in it loads, get tanned easy, never need a fan at the house ect ect but this year I’m struggling with the heat massively! Not enjoying it feeling way too hot, I can hardly sit outside! I started taking sertraline last august could it be this? Or is perimenopause to blame? Or is it just so muggy atm I’m not only one finding it unbearable? Or can you just change and no longer enjoy it 😅I hate cold weather so I can’t also be a moaner about the heat which I’ve always loved 😂😂 (I know this is a no worry worry just curious for answers)

The temperature is going to drop down to 22 tomorrow so I don't mind a few days of it.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 30/06/2025 15:50

Yes, tablets do affect the way you feel heat.

murasaki · 30/06/2025 15:51

My local weather says 33 tomorrow then 23 on Wednesday. Can't wait for Wednesday....

Got another day of 30 where I am. 22 sounds lovely.

ninjahamster · 30/06/2025 15:51

Yes it will be the sertraline. I’m on it too, the heat really affects me now.

ComtesseDeSpair · 30/06/2025 15:52

I think it depends where you are. I’m in south London and whilst it’s blisteringly hot in the full sun, I’m currently sitting in a shady part of my garden and there’s a nice breeze.

But yes, peri / menopause and SSRIs can mess with your internal thermostat a bit, you have my sympathy.

AmberTurtles · 30/06/2025 15:52

Nope, not enjoying it one bit. Roll on winter 🌧️❄️☃️

BingoWasHisNameOo · 30/06/2025 15:53

I usually love the heat too, but I’m currently 32 weeks pregnant and really really struggling!

SunshineHello · 30/06/2025 15:54

I am not coping but am pregnant, WFH and it’s a sweat box.

I should be going into the office tomorrow (where there is aircon) but the thought of the train home in 33 degrees and no aircon is just appalling.

MyKingdomForACat · 30/06/2025 15:55

Loathe it. The poor animals. Poor all of us.

Michele09 · 30/06/2025 15:55

Move to the North, it's not hot here.

Amethystanddiamonds · 30/06/2025 15:57

It's a high of 23C here and then forecast a high of 17C and rain for the rest of the week. Wish everyone would stop gloating about how glorious the weather is!

Saltedcarameltiramisucheesecake · 30/06/2025 15:57

I do love summer, though I don't sunbathe ever.
These temperatures are something else. Just nipped out to the garden bin, dog following. Usually he is mithering to play fetch. Not today. Quickly dived back in. Now flopped out on kitchen floor. Dog. Not me. 🥵

CheerfulBunny · 30/06/2025 16:00

Got a record FIVE loads of washing done today, bone dry and folded, so yeah, in a way I am enjoying it. Not doing any of the ironing though - that would be nuts.

Dangermoo · 30/06/2025 16:00

It's too much.

This is eye opening. I’ve been really suffering in summers for years - to the point where I feel weak and throw up, can’t sit in the garden, spend all day just coping - and have been on sertraline for years… I never knew that was a side effect!!

Can totally empathise with this. In 2022 when it got to 35°C I was 9 months pregnant and I honestly felt like I was dying. Never felt so uncomfortable in my life. Hope you manage to stay cool😊

I love the hot weather & the sunshine.

However it doesn't like me.....

I have rosacea & need to stay out of the sun as UV makes it worse.

My DH has a heart condition & asthma - the hot weather makes him at risk.

We have an elderly dog &, again, the hot weather means that we spend our time making sure that she's comfortable, spraying her body with water, trying to make sure she's in coolest part of the house, no walks in the heat of the day etc. She also has a paddling pool, but is too tired with the heat to want to go outside & I'm not going to make her (obviously).

Not only that, it's bloody hot & uncomfortable. Not looking forward to going to bed in an oven of a room tonight & then expected to be able to work tomorrow after about 5 hour's sleep.

We have a fan on a stand placed in front of an open window (as recommended) - making no real difference.

We're thinking about installing A/C into living & main bedroom, but it's expensive, will take up space & wondering if it's really worth the cost. Today I'd say 'yes' but come October I'll be saying 'no' as I'll be worrying about heating bills. 😂

TwinklyFawn · 30/06/2025 16:16

I am not on any medication and i really hate this heat. It is far too warm to sit in the garden. I am exhausted too as i am finding it hard to sleep. I do have a fan on in the bedroom. The problem is that my neighbours make a din on a night when it is warm.

Eight8eight · 30/06/2025 16:19

I usually hate the heat but an AC unit has been a game changer for us.

Livpool · 30/06/2025 17:31

I love it! It has been about 26 degrees here. We don’t get much of a summer so o try to enjoy it as much as possible

TeenLifeMum · 30/06/2025 17:33

I love the heat but dh thinks I’m part lizard.

Hatty65 · 30/06/2025 17:37

Interesting about the sertraline. I like the heat usually, and am happy to lie baking in it, but this year I've decided that although I like it, I don't care if I get a tan - what I really need to be, in my Goldilocks fashion, is just the right temperature.

So I'm enjoying the heat by sitting in the garden in the shade. Or indoors, with the door open.

user764329056 · 30/06/2025 17:38

Much prefer this to months of grey which is what we have for majority of year

Me too. I just want to be warm and wear my summer clothes which I don't get much wear out of.

I bought this linen blend top from Uniqlo earlier this year and it is perfect for this weather
