Usually I love the sun / heat.. get out in it loads, get tanned easy, never need a fan at the house ect ect but this year I’m struggling with the heat massively! Not enjoying it feeling way too hot, I can hardly sit outside! I started taking sertraline last august could it be this? Or is perimenopause to blame? Or is it just so muggy atm I’m not only one finding it unbearable? Or can you just change and no longer enjoy it 😅I hate cold weather so I can’t also be a moaner about the heat which I’ve always loved 😂😂 (I know this is a no worry worry just curious for answers)

Move to the North, it's not hot here.

Define North. I’m in Yorkshire and it’s 31 here.

I'm currently in Greece, it's been 38°/39° all week, its glorious. Its a dry heat so doesn't make you sticky, car and apartment have beautiful air con. In and out of the pool/sea all day. Sleep like a baby due to air con.
Back in the UK I struggle, it always seems so oppressive and muggy when it gets really hot. Everyone's tempers get frayed and its hard to sleep. Have another week in Greece, I'm hoping the hot weather has passed by the time we get home!

NixieDust · 30/06/2025 18:18

I used to be the same but now I feel genuinely unwell in the heat! It started after I became really poorly and was put on amitriptyline (which has taken me 2 years to wean down to much smaller dose and I can’t shift the final one without awful side effects) I honestly always thought it was just because I now have a medical condition to deal with but I now believe it’s the amitriptyline!

I am suffering badly and live in Scotland. Its too hot.

DangerousAlchemy · 30/06/2025 18:35

Also a side effect of HRT medications can be photo sensitivity. I burn more easily now even with suncream plus being in full sun gives me a huge headache/mini migraine. I can't tolerate hot weather as much now I'm 50 🤷‍♀️

Dangermoo · 30/06/2025 16:00

It's too much.

This sums it up.

DrDisrespect · 30/06/2025 18:38

Its unbearable. The thermostat in my bedroom (front of the house where the sun sets) is currently reading 28.7 🥵🥵🥵🥵

Going by Mumsnet, anywhere North of London is North.

Definitely suffering here at 31C in the Midlands, I mean in the North.

Ireallywantadoughnut36 · 30/06/2025 19:02

I love sunshine but this is "too warm", it's not even been that sunny this weekend, just muggy and hot. I think on holiday you get air con and you're allowed to lie about. I'm so tired of not sleeping and not getting a break from it, it's not even actual July yet, so I also don't quite feel ready for it.

PomegranateVase · 30/06/2025 19:08

It’s fucking awful! Every orifice sweats and feels damp and uncomfortable, and I feel extra fat.

PassingStranger · 30/06/2025 19:24

We have this every year.

Yes I love it.

KilkennyCats · 30/06/2025 19:26

Amethystanddiamonds · 30/06/2025 15:57

It's a high of 23C here and then forecast a high of 17C and rain for the rest of the week. Wish everyone would stop gloating about how glorious the weather is!

Where are you? Envy

Hedgesfullofbirds · 30/06/2025 19:39

Where are all you lucky people who are experiencing lower temperatures and have had rain - the land is parched, dessicated and resembles late August, rather than early summer. My rain gauge has recorded a cumulative total of less than an inch since late February and I am praying for at least a week of steady, proper rain, precious life giving stuff that it is, to rebalance the soil moisture deficit. And, as an outdoor worker, professional grower and horticulturalist, no, I am not enjoying the relentless heat and unnatural lack of precipitation we are experiencing this year!

Shetlands · 30/06/2025 19:47

I'm half Scottish (inherited the very fair skin!) and I can't stand anything above the mid 20s. I remember working in London in the summers of 1975 and 1976 - horrendous! I live in the coastal south-west now so there's usually a sea breeze thankfully. I really feel for all you people commuting across hot cities.

paddyclampster · 30/06/2025 19:58

I love it! I think on the whole the weather has been pretty decent since the start of spring - a lot better than last year, which is good!

Starbursting · 30/06/2025 19:58

I’m in France atm and it’s so hot, it’s been 39 degrees today and we have no aircon in our villa. I’m pregnant too. I would not exist if we didn’t have the pool!

PrancerandDancer · 30/06/2025 20:02

Yep, any SSRI medication can make you feel the effects of the heat worse.

I didnt like it before I started on them, dislike it even more now.

Interestingly though, have also been on Elvanse since May and this has reduced my heat related headaches that I get.

Make sure you are getting plenty more water.

We have also put a ceiling fan in our room this year and it's been amazing

I’m in the North East and it’s boiling, no air🥵

familyissues12345 · 30/06/2025 20:06

I love the sunshine, makes me feel happy, but anything over 25/26c and I’m melting Grin

Much prefer this to months of grey which is what we have for majority of year

And me. Long may it continue.

And if it goes away I hope it comes back.

inkognitha · 30/06/2025 20:18

It's been so hot today I have not been able to feel the difference between the heat and my own hot flushes 😂

BurdofPrey · 30/06/2025 20:19

I fucking hate it. I’m on holiday, it’s 39 degrees and I wish I was in England.

SleeplessInWherever · 30/06/2025 20:21

TeenLifeMum · 30/06/2025 17:33

I love the heat but dh thinks I’m part lizard.

Same here; I’d live somewhere this warm if I could.

I wouldn’t be able to take my DP though, the whinging about the heat would drive me insane.

Dappy777 · 30/06/2025 20:51

The sun is lovely. I’m in Essex, and it has been great to see people laying on their back in the park reading a book, or sitting outside cafes. But nice as it is, this is too warm. The U.K. just isn’t suited to heat. It’s too small, too overcrowded and too densely populated. The houses are jammed on top of one another, and the traffic is awful. My perfect weather is blue sky, sunshine and the air chilly enough for a jumper. Or a still Autumn day, with blue sky and the air cold enough to see your breath (plus fallen leaves and the smell of bonfires).
