no its not my house and it is already sold but the price seemed very low to me? I would be interested in something like this but I wonder if there is something wrong with it that I’m not seeing?

Check out this 3 bedroom semi-detached house for sale on Rightmove

Isn't it just the location? Near Hull? Other sold prices seem comparable. It also needs a fair bit of modernising.

Bubblesgun · 21/06/2025 08:46

A lot of work to be done
bathroom downstairs - i d move it to the box room
ground floor flow is wrong. Whats the black square if you look at floor plan?
garden looks good. Lots of work thougj
overall lots of potential but would needs
a lot of money for me to make it work

MidnightPatrol · 21/06/2025 08:46

Price looks fairly comparable to properties of a similar size locally.

A total refurb wiring / kitchen / bathroom / flooring etc will easily cost £50k+.

JaneWithTheUntidyHouse · 21/06/2025 08:47

The area will make it cheaper.
It says it might need updating (read: It probably does, and looking at it I think those fluorescent lights need attention even if you love kitchens of that era).
It says oil central heating (read: probably not on the gas pipeline, also likely septic tank in that case).

I think the black square is chimney/fireplace?

Living room is essentially a hall so lots of through traffic and downstairs bathroom might put people off.

How would the oven work without gas? Unless it’s an electric oven. Wouldn’t the fireplace require gas?

Black box is the chimney/fireplace.

Looks about right for the size & area, plus it needs a lot of work. It has good bones and a great garden.

I’d be tempted to extend out the back for a big kitchen/diner and utility, relocate the bathroom upstairs with another bedroom & make the third bedroom an en-suite.

AirborneElephant · 21/06/2025 08:51

“Might need updating “ = requires a complete strip down, rewiring, re plastering and new kitchen and bathroom. And the layout isn’t great. Seems a reasonable price given the money needed to get it up to spec.

Owt · 21/06/2025 08:52

I wonder if it is a listed building? When would you say it was built? What era?

Electric oven, electric fire probably.

skymagentatwo · 21/06/2025 08:55

Location completely, its a cheap area and sat directly on a round about next to a shop and pubs nearby. Zero parking and a bloody nightmare to get anything delivered or park.

Upsetbetty · 21/06/2025 08:57

It’s awful…

MrsMoastyToasty · 21/06/2025 08:58

Bedroom 3 is tiny.
The artex on the ceiling in the kitchen may contain asbestos.
There may be damp.
It might need rewiring.
It may require bottled gas for cooking.

Bottled gas, or maybe an electric hob?

HeddaGarbled · 21/06/2025 08:59

We have oil-fired central heating because there’s no mains gas supply in our village. So, yes, cooker is electric. We don’t have a septic tank though.

KIlliePieMyOhMy · 21/06/2025 09:03

On busy roundabout with shop next door.

For some reason I thought it had a driveway. That must have been a different one I was looking at.

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 21/06/2025 09:05

I'm another in a village with no gas. Everything is electric - not so hard to understand, surely? But the oil fired CH will be a nightmare, I had it in my last place and it cost squillions to run and the oil lorry has to be able to delivery, which looks as though it might be a bit of a problem here without causing traffic chaos.

AltitudeCheck · 21/06/2025 09:11

It has a driveway but very close to the roundabout. I wonder if the shop next door attracts a lots of kids hanging about? Also traffic noise/ fumes might make the garden less appealing to use.

I don't think the estate agents map pin is in the right place, the pic shows it is next door to the post office/ costumer shop which on Google maps is just of the A road (main Hull to Bridlington road) and opposite a big pub.

It’s clearly haunted and the current owners have decided to cut their losses and get out while they still can.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 21/06/2025 09:12

KIlliePieMyOhMy · 21/06/2025 09:03

On busy roundabout with shop next door.

And from the image, HGVs going by (and doing deliveries at stupid o'clock), bus stop = litter and noise, green space = dog mess, kids hanging around, possibly adult/teen antisocial behaviour following the purchase of alcohol day and night, noise from the pub, cars speeding especially at night, sense of less security because there's always a 'reason' for randoms to be hanging around, possible issues with pests due to the storage of stock, commercial rubbish collection at the significantly earlier times permitted for this (eg, between 4 and 5am).

Didimum · 21/06/2025 09:12

It’s on a busy intersection/roundabout and attached to a commercial property, which can be difficult to secure a mortgage for.

Yes I thought it looked potentially haunted 😂
