no its not my house and it is already sold but the price seemed very low to me? I would be interested in something like this but I wonder if there is something wrong with it that I’m not seeing?

I’d never look past a plastic front door and plastic windows on any house. Would cost a fortune to replace.

Location completely, its a cheap area and sat directly on a round about next to a shop and pubs nearby. Zero parking and a bloody nightmare to get anything delivered or park.

The estate agent very cleverly took a close up picture for the website. You don't see the shops or roundabout unless you do an advanced Google search.

You could put a loo upstairs, creating a doorway on the landing on the other side of the black dot (guessing hot water tank) or do a shower room in the cupboard - blocking off the door to cupboard in the bedroom. Then get a combi boiler.

The location isn't brilliant - mini roundabout, Budgens, pub

Its the location.

The modernisation work is a matter of agreeing a price but you could spend a fortune on that house and it would still be opposite a pub, next to a shop and on the roundabout of a main road.

That excludes a lot of people before you consider other local area aspects or cost of modernisation.

That's a very informative photo! Imagine just seeing the EA listing and turning up to find it's like that. Always check out the street photo function!

No Broadband AND only intermittent mobile signal. Looks ok priced for what it is and will be right for someone but the location would make it a non starter for most.
Yes this site is great for reviewing a Rightmove listing!

The doll in the pram has given me the creeps, it's all I could focus on

This looks like a much nicer house in the same price bracket. www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/158180531#/?channel=RES_BUY

It's been extended. Clearly used to be 2 up, 2 down type of affair.
It's was extended at some point to put a bathroom in and make the kitchen bigger.

No, I mean ask how the original house was constructed - was it pre-fabricated? (walls built elsewhere then dropped into place like a kit house) - this was done a lot after the 2nd world war and can be harder to get mortgages on.

How would the oven work without gas? Unless it’s an electric oven. Wouldn’t the fireplace require gas?

I grew up in a house and village not on the gas network.

We had an oil tank behind the house for the central heating, an electric oven and a wood fire in the living room.

We didn't need a septic tank though as we were on the water and sewage network.

At the time there were lots of villages in Lincolnshire like this, not sure if things have changed though.

Hoppinggreen · 21/06/2025 13:57

Its near Hull, its not in a great area, it needs a load of work and its attached to a commercial property
And it houses a creepy doll

Starlingsintheloft · 21/06/2025 14:54

It’s got a low EPC, a textured ceiling in the kitchen which indicates asbestos and the kitchen needs updating. But that all said, it’s a good house and a nice project for some.

Those houses are beautiful but we would like a large garage. Shame as they’d be perfect otherwise!

Bedroom 3 is tiny.
The artex on the ceiling in the kitchen may contain asbestos.
There may be damp.
It might need rewiring.
It may require bottled gas for cooking.

This.
