But I keep getting charged for mumsnet premium?

last year they charged me (despite banning my account) and I emailed them, they said sorry and refunded the charge. Now again, they’ve charged me despite my premium account being banned.

AIBU to think mumsnet is a money grabbing shitshow

Why didn’t you cancel the Direct Debit?

Why didn’t you cancel the Direct Debit?

because I thought (god forbid) they wouldn’t charge me YET AGAIN. I also checked - they’re not in my direct debits. They are just raw dog charging me

Cancel the cheque 😉

Toetouchingtitties · 19/06/2025 19:55

How’s the ban working out for you?

GasperyJacquesRoberts · 19/06/2025 19:55

"Money grabbing shit show" would also describe Mumsnet repeatedly faking reviews, too.

hahaha i’m back baby! 😇 I wrote one of their most popular posts, 3 x pages of 1,000 replies. I got banned but the posts stayed up 🤷‍♀️

I don’t know the reason I was banned. Perhaps they thought my post was getting too far fetched but it was all genuine 🤷‍♀️ even several newspapers picked up the story and published it. I was banned but the posts stayed. Fine, but I wish they’d stop charging me for the premium account they banned 2 years ago.

That’s very crap of them. How can they do that with no direct debit? Have you set up a PayPal subscription or something?

TheAutumnCrow · 19/06/2025 20:13

There ain’t no ban hammer like an MN ban hammer.

No PayPal. It’s direct from my bank account. I have just been on the phone to my bank, there’s no direct debit set up. They’re just charging me out of nowhere.

the number on the mumsnet bank charge just goes dead too!

Are they recurring card payments which are harder to cancel than direct debits.

AnyoneWhoHasAHeart · 19/06/2025 20:17

There have been many users banned over the years for spurious reasons. I know that people seem to think that if you’re banned you must have been a troll/offensive etc but that’s really not true. If your face doesn’t fit then you can get banned.

As for charging for premium, if an account is deleted then the premium should be deleted as standard. There are no excuses for them charging for an account which no longer exists.

Although I’m really surprised that people even pay for premium. It’s a total con. And the way they went about advertising it during the pandemic while people were losing their jobs and MN’s salary bill is approx £250000 a month while they pleaded poverty was a disgrace.

Edited

Continuous payment authority would be the top suspect for being charged with no way to cancel.

Though my MN premium subscription shows up in the list of direct debits in my banking app. Is it definitely not there?

Yes they are. I gave my card details when I signed up for premium. But they banned me but still take the payments. They are taking payments for an account that doesn’t exist. It’s been two years. Last time I emailed them and they refunded it. But now i’ve been charged again a year later. Justine must need a new gucci handbag I guess 🤷‍♀️

Definitely not there. I’ve called my bank. 🥲 it’s charged to my card.

The bank probably doesn't know about recurring card payments because they are only paid when asked for by the vendor.

LemondrizzleShark · 19/06/2025 20:25

Cancel the credit card and open another one (has to be a whole new account so they can’t keep submitting new payments).

What was the thread?? [missing the payment point, but massively invested :D]

I’m dying to know too 😂

VivX · 19/06/2025 20:34

A recurring card charge is not the same as a direct debit. Contact the card issuer. Cancelling a recurring card payment is a different process from cancelling a direct debit, even if it was your bank that issued the card.
