Watching my DC do their hobbies! 😅

Moier · 05/06/2025 16:48

Reading is one of my biggest passions ( love my kindle).
Music.
Sewing ( machine and hand).
Travelling ( go abroad on average . times six a year).. day trips to places of interest.
Spending lots of time with Grandkids.
Baking sometimes.
Go swimming at least once a week.

MidlifeWondering · 05/06/2025 17:20

Pilates and weight training (mid 40s, so I’m conscious of maintaining muscle mass and flexibility)
Reading (love my kindle)
Hiking when I get a chance, but a long walk every day
Chilling with my kids

WanderingWisteria · 05/06/2025 17:20

Driving my DC to their activities
Standing on the sidelines chatting to other parents and spectacularly failing to notice my child score a goal/get injured/do something else of note
Doing the washing
Hunting around the house for stray socks
Being DD’s Vinted mule
Going to the supermarket to buy yet more fresh fruit
Supporting friends whose “D”H’s or ex-DH’s are arses
Supporting friends whose parents are dying and/or have dementia
Rarely chatting with DH, usually about our retirement gap year (which is at least a decade away)
Occasionally reading. But don’t ask me to tell you the storyline of the book I finished last week as I have completely forgotten it.
Battling the garden and, again, thinking about how wonderful it will be when I have retired
Sometimes, going out with friends

cardibach · 05/06/2025 17:22

I spend an inordinate amount of my spare time doing the things I'm supposed to do in my 50s to preserve my health, wellbeing and fitness. Walking, yoga, getting out 'in nature', buying and cooking healthy meals, making sure I'm not missing out on any new tea or supplement or whatever. I'm hoping it pays off as I'll need to live to my 90s to get back the time I'm losing to it.

GetOffTheCounter · 05/06/2025 17:37

More seriously though... I used to love riding. But an accident put paid to it.

I love cooking and am a devotee of youtube videos of other people cooking. I really love UK food you tube blogs with other mothers showing what they cook for their families. I seque into youtube videos about family traditional meals around the globe. Greek, French and Japanese are my faves.

I love to read- but I am too tired to be very ambitious with that.

Love love love travelling.

I have two teens- one of whom has autism and learning difficulties. I'm knackered tbh. My 'hobbies' have to be home based and low stress.

I too like to sit on my arse and scroll through social media. My husband does not get this. I have few games on my phone that I like to play. I love cross stitch and my physio has recently said that it is good for my hands to maintain dexterity. I do all this while watching true crime, history documentaries or murder/mystery shows.
I miss dancing, i used to dance 2/3 times a week in uni. We tried a bit when we moved here but my muscle wasting condition as put paid to all that.

Gardening,I love it especially this time of year when everything is flowering and the gardens full of sounds and scents.

Baking,it's something I'm good at but hadn't done for ages but I'm getting back into it now because the looks on my DC my DHs faces when they know I've baked make it well worth the time it takes

JDM625 · 05/06/2025 17:44
