Scissor Sisters tonight ... suddenly going solo

bluesky9 · 24/05/2025 17:18

I've had tickets booked for ages to go and Scissor Sisters tonight. Plan was to grab some food first and then onto the concert. Friend has had to pull out last minute- no fault of hers. I still want to go. Can a 50 year old eat out and go to the concert alone? AIBU to think I can still go and have a great night? There's no emergency on friends part by the way. Her Dad had a fall this morning, is home and ok apart from understandably shaken. She doesn't want to leave him alone. I would do the same

Of course you can!! Go for it. You'll feel very empowered believe me

McCartneyOnTheHeath · 24/05/2025 17:20

Can a 50 year old eat out and go to the concert alone?

No, sorry, this is not allowed at all. 🙄

Shesellsseashellsnotinmystreet · 24/05/2025 17:20

Go for it op.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 24/05/2025 17:21

Of course you can! Go forth, have fun.

Pancakeflipper · 24/05/2025 17:21

Go. It's totally fine.

bennybannsider · 24/05/2025 17:21

Yes definitely. A busy concert is a good place to be alone as it's, well, busy.

Barabajagal · 24/05/2025 17:21

We were there last night. Do not miss it! They’re brilliant and everyone is really friendly. Jake Shears is just the best front man. I think he might have been Tigger in a past life.

Munchyseeds2 · 24/05/2025 17:22

My friend did exactly that last night!
We were also at the 02....they were fab
Have a great time!!

CharlotteStreetW1 · 24/05/2025 17:22

I've been to restaurants and the theatre alone a few times. I like to think I give off "international woman of mystery" vibes 😊

Go and enjoy!

Callie247 · 24/05/2025 17:23

Of course you can eat out and go solo! You’ll be so happy you did it. if you don’t you’re only going to regret it. Come back tomorrow and tell us what a good night you had!

Bjorkdidit · 24/05/2025 17:23

I don't understand how this is a question.

Why couldn't you go to meal and concert alone?

OatFlatWhiteForMe · 24/05/2025 17:23

Go, it’s a show not to be missed. Honestly the best gig I have been to in a while.

Callmebaroness · 24/05/2025 17:25

Just go! And have a great time! I'm jealous. I went to see a gig on my own last year and loved every minute

LikeMyHeartIsAboutToStopBeating · 24/05/2025 17:28

Not only can you do it, you should. I was at a gig last night and suddenly thought I should go to more and go on my own because I don’t always manage to find someone to come with me. I looked around and realised no one knows or cares if you’re on your own. I frequently go the theatre and cinema alone and usually eat alone beforehand. So go, enjoy it (I saw them in 2004 and still remember it being terrific) and come back and tell us how great it was!

Sortoutyourshit · 24/05/2025 17:29

Go go go

Pedallleur · 24/05/2025 17:30

I was at Springsteen this week on my own. No one cares.

PrioritisePleasure24 · 24/05/2025 17:32

I saw them in manchester they were brilliant. Please go. Don’t miss it!!

GreyCarpet · 24/05/2025 17:37

Of course you can!

I'm 51 and I'm going to a gig tonight on my own.

I often do.

FutureCatMum · 24/05/2025 17:39

I understand your reluctance. I’m thinking of doing this in a couple of weeks at another concert I’ve had a ticket to since before I was single. It’s nerve wracking doing things solo when you’re not used to it. Go and have a great time, and come back with any tips!

KrisAkabusi · 24/05/2025 17:41

FFS! Of course you can.

Mmmcheese89 · 24/05/2025 17:41

If I'd had more notice I'd have bitten your hand off for that ticket. I'm not far away.

Hope you have a brilliant night. X

EleanorRavenclaw · 24/05/2025 17:42

I saw Stevie Nicks last year on my own. The lady next to me was on her own too so worked out quite well. One of the best concerts I’ve ever been to I loved it.

RosieLeaLovesTea · 24/05/2025 17:42

Definitely!!!! Go and have a great night! 😊😊

Potatowonkeyes · 24/05/2025 17:44

I done this last night and it WAS THE BEST! GO FOR IT!

GinToBegin · 24/05/2025 17:45

A few months ago, DP, DM and I went for lunch in a very fancy restaurant. At the next table was a young woman lunching on her own. She was groomed to the heavens, absolutely stunning, she had all the courses, a glass of wine or two, and she absolutely owned it. It was none of my business, of course, but it honestly made me happy to see her doing her own thing confidently (whether she felt it, or not is maybe debatable) and on her own terms.

OP, I know doing things solo can feel like a challenge, but please, go, enjoy, eat and dance and have a brilliant time. You’ve got this.
