Are you enjoying the heat?

Had plans to drive three hours to our nearest beach but the dog has hurt his paw. Took this week off as AL to enjoy the weather. So just having some quiet time in the garden. Have set up my laptop to binge watch a Korean series I enjoy. I was assuming I would find 27c oppressive but it’s actually extremely pleasant. It’s been cool at night so this may be the first heatwave that I’ve lived.

I absolutely love it. Love it! Currently WFH and sitting at desk in front of the open windows. It’s glorious (especially as I have tomorrow off too!)

Overtheatlantic · 01/05/2025 11:56

I’m enjoying it! It’s cool in the morning, warm in late afternoon and then cool again. We’ve been eating ice cream and salad. No cooking as it heats up the house.

LandSharksAnonymous · 01/05/2025 11:58

Love it and hate it!

Love it as I'm WFH today and in the garden, in the shade, with the dogs.

Hate it as tomorrow I have a 90 minute train commute into central London...and people on trains and tubes have this incredibly inability to wear deodorant.

Crunchymum · 01/05/2025 11:58

I can manage it for a few days at this time of year without (too much) complaint but I'm not a massive fan in general. 28c in the height of summer is pretty unpleasant.

22c and sunny is my optimum.

I have a DC who is very adversely affected by the heat - he has migraines, feels poorly, struggles to sleep, loses his appetite and is generally miserable in anything over 20c. He said he's emigrating to a cooler climate as soon as he is old enough.

HansHolbein · 01/05/2025 11:58

I’ve lost 6st, so the first time… yes!

Lovelynames123 · 01/05/2025 11:59

Loving it, off work and in the garden!

MyOtherCarIsAPorsche · 01/05/2025 12:02

Nah - inside, hiding from heat and trying to find coolest part of house. Sun/heat immediately sets off DGS's epilepsy so school always send him home.

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 01/05/2025 12:02

I hate it 😒 but I'm so grateful that it's cooler at night

Congratulations!

I have observed that people who tend not to enjoy the heat are on the larger side.

I’ve lost 20 pounds very very slowly (upcoming wedding) and definitely run cooler than I used to.

Love it

ilovesooty · 01/05/2025 12:09

Love it.

Deanthebean · 01/05/2025 12:13

I'm on the "larger side" fat as fuck but, that's not the reason I don't enjoy the sun.
It's because I'm that pale I'm practically translucent and have fair hair and burn to a crisp.
🙄

Springersrock · 01/05/2025 12:19

I love it. I love the light evenings and warm weather.

I’ve been down the beach after work every night this week with the dog, the odd shandy in the beer garden on the way home.

Edited

I'm carrying too much weight but I bloody love the warmer weather!

letsnotIRL · 01/05/2025 12:25

I normally love it, but 6 weeks post c section and none of my summer stuff fits yet 😒 struggling to stay cool and comfortable at the same time x

GoodCharl · 01/05/2025 12:33

I usually struggle in the heat because im fat but recently ive lost just over a stone by changing food habits, exercising and using MJ so yeah its more bearable tbh. Especially as clothing is fitting so much better 🩷

Oganesson118 · 01/05/2025 12:35

I would if I wasn't poorly!

Greenartywitch · 01/05/2025 12:37

I live in a seaside town so I tend to really enjoy sunny days :)

There is always a breeze coming from the sea as well so it does not get too oppressive.

I was not so keen on the heat when I lived in London though.

FastFood · 01/05/2025 12:38

I decided years ago that 27 with a light breeze is the ideal temperature to be outside with bare arms. So yes, enjoying it.

TheeNotoriousPIG · 01/05/2025 12:41

No! I am fair-skinned, work outdoors and I'm just too British for this heat. Sweat rash is no fun, either, and I could happily dive into a livestock water trough or be hosed down at times. Bring back normal temperatures at once, please!

Vimaybe · 01/05/2025 12:41

@MyOtherCarIsAPorschei always thought I was alone with this but high temperatures affects my epilepsy too more than any other factor. I hope your DGS is okay and is enjoying lots of ice lollies.

TeenLifeMum · 01/05/2025 12:44

I usually love it but have a virus and feel crap and cold. I was laying in the garden as we have a puppy and she needed a run around (thankfully older dog stepped in and played with her) but I was on the garden sofa with a duvet snoozing despite the heat.

Scousemousey · 01/05/2025 12:46

I love the heat, but am fair skinned, so don't tan. Happiest in the shade. 🏖️

UnctuousUnicorns · 01/05/2025 12:49

Oh yes, all 15° of it today. 🌞 👍

S0j0urn4r · 01/05/2025 12:54

Loving the heat. Hating the pollen.
