Are you enjoying the heat?

Had plans to drive three hours to our nearest beach but the dog has hurt his paw. Took this week off as AL to enjoy the weather. So just having some quiet time in the garden. Have set up my laptop to binge watch a Korean series I enjoy. I was assuming I would find 27c oppressive but it’s actually extremely pleasant. It’s been cool at night so this may be the first heatwave that I’ve lived.

Absolutely loathe it. Feel like sobbing at the thought of what's coming in the next few months. I have a physical job too and it's unbearable in these temperatures. Makes me genuinely feel like resigning.

Motherknowsrest · 01/05/2025 13:48

Yes! And I still have a vest on.

Alaop · 01/05/2025 13:48

16c so not that hot, but when it’s really sunny I tend to just stay inside

Congratulations!

I have observed that people who tend not to enjoy the heat are on the larger side.

I’ve lost 20 pounds very very slowly (upcoming wedding) and definitely run cooler than I used to.

I’m a healthy weight and don’t enjoy hot weather. I have never really liked it but now I’m peri menopausal it’s even worse.

I just rearrange my day though so I don’t have to deal with the hottest time. I go for a run first thing, then walk the dogs mid morning and evening instead of during the day. I work from home and bought air conditioning units a few years ago so I stay cool.

Absolutely hate it.

Bring on autumn

PaintStation · 01/05/2025 14:15

I’m really enjoying it too.

We’ve had a long, grey and damp winter, it’s about time we had some sunshine.

The school walk has been lovely, hazy mornings with lots of birds chattering. There’s a lovely sea breeze so it doesn’t feel too hot.

After the school drop off, me and toddler ds have been going to the beach and for a walk along the sea front, then we head back home before it starts getting too hot.

We’ve been spending time in the garden, planting and pottering around and the kids have been playing happily in the garden whilst I make tea.

In winter, it feels like everyone shuts themselves away. The warm weather and light evenings make everywhere come alive again.

I love it (oh and I’m fat but still love it) and it’s my birthday today so have very much enjoyed being in the garden soaking in the lovely weather!

blooshboon · 01/05/2025 14:17

No.

can’t wait for it to go cooler.

whatcanthematterbe81 · 01/05/2025 14:17

im enjoying the cider that comes with it

QwestSprout · 01/05/2025 14:18

Genuinely didn't know it was hot elsewhere, it's 12 degrees and raining here.

Well I’m fat (“on the larger side) and love the heat and the sun. I’m also perimenopausal and have hot flushes constantly, but still love it

Dappy777 · 01/05/2025 14:44

Love the sun, HATE the heat. Too hot for me today. What makes it worse is that my home town is overcrowded. A traffic jam in narrow roads crammed with new houses is no fun when it’s hot. April was near perfect - blue skies, plenty of sunshine plus a light, chilly breeze. I’ve never got the obsession with hot sunlight. It’s like having a burning torch shone in your face. Maybe that’s why Australia has never appealed to me.

Out “heat” ended yesterday. Highs of 22c. It’s not 15c and feeling quite lovely in a jumper and skirt, no tights today.
Scotland here. Love the weather here.

Surely that shorts weather for you? We are all in shorts and t shirts in Yorkshire (about 25/26).

I've lost 7 stone (another 2 to go) but I'm still not enjoying it. I used to think it was because I was overweight, but no,it's not made a jot of difference.
