Aibu about this strange woman

A woman frequently walks around, and if she spots anything left outside someone's house that's clearly meant to be free, she takes a picture and posts it on Facebook to "advertise" it. Several of us have already asked her to please stop doing this, but she hasn't. What do we do?!

So she's alerting people to the fact there is free stuff in the street? Not sure there is anything you can do tbh other than not put free stuff in the street if it's leading to you being inconvenienced.

Buitenlander · 01/05/2025 11:24

She's posting our addresses. It's one thing to put it outside for random passers by it's another to have someone sharing our addresses on Facebook? She takes a full picture (sometimes stepping into the road to get the whole house and garden in) and writes the exact address on public posts.

I've tried to physically block her she actually leant round me and took the picture and dashed away ignoring my shouts to delete it.

How often are people putting stuff outside to give away? It's something I see occasionally but not regularly. It's a strange thing for her to do but I can't really see the problem, surely the people doing it want the item gone ASAP?

MidnightPatrol · 01/05/2025 11:26

Stop leaving stuff outside?

Buitenlander · 01/05/2025 11:26

Again, yes we do, not often but I don't want my address posted on Facebook?!

OP posts:
Buitenlander · 01/05/2025 11:27

I shouldn't have to, this is psychopath behaviour surely.

Follow her home, then take the tat you’re giving away and dump outside her house?

FuzzyPuffling · 01/05/2025 11:28

So she posts " 1, High Street" with a photo of an abandoned hoover, for example?

Maybe she doesn't like the pavement being cluttered up.

Surely everyone knows there's a "High Street" with numbered houses on it?

Really not sure of the problem here. Don't like it? Don't put crap on the pavement.

OnlyFannys · 01/05/2025 11:28

Apologies if I'm missing something but what's the harm in your address being on Facebook? Addresses are public anyway unless she is putting your name and other details alongside it?

FuzzyPuffling · 01/05/2025 11:28

No, it's really not.

Um, where did I say it's on the pavement? It's on the end of our property, not blocking anyone.

How would people know it’s your address? Does she tag you in a post?

hazelnutvanillalatte · 01/05/2025 11:32

She's not saying who lives there. You are leaving things out for people to take and she is letting people know. People who walk past can also see your house...

Buitenlander · 01/05/2025 11:26

It's not really though is it? She's not putting up your name and photo with the address. To people seeing it, it's just a random house on a street. If anyone turned up, they'd either take the item or realise it's gone and walk away.

PaintYourAssLikeRembrandt · 01/05/2025 11:33

Buitenlander · 01/05/2025 11:29

Unless you're shagging against the window or something there's not really an issue, anyone can see your home on Google maps anyway.

Freeasa · 01/05/2025 11:33

Atarin · 01/05/2025 11:32

Yes I’m really confused as to what the danger is here too. It’s not like she’s giving any information that isn’t freely available by someone walking down the street. You seem totally paranoid.

MrsPlantagenet · 01/05/2025 11:33

Why are people leaving stuff outside their homes? Perhaps she thinks she’s doing a community service? I can’t see the harm.

Buitenlander · 01/05/2025 11:34

Tell that to the angry bloke she once reserved an item for, who banged on my door and screamed at me for "wasting his time"

Do I still have to put up with that, because after all, no one knows who's house it is.
