been with dp for 15 years ( not that that is relevant ) but today his mum has come over and given our dd 2 Easter eggs and our son an egg then she handed dp an egg and said that’s for you and the three miracles to share, ( it was a normal egg ) she knows I’m intolerant to dairy as she’s brought me dairy free chocolate for my birthday several years running and we’ve had conversations about dairy free before as both me and dd are, I’m not bothered about having an egg but it just seems pretty unkind like it’s been done to leave me out deliberately to point out she doesn’t like me that much!
I’ve never been good enough as such but when I’m pregnant she tends to be really off ish with me!
AIBU to feel a little annoyed / upset ? It’s not about having an egg it’s the way it’s been done ! Fwiw we got his mum and her husband both really nice eggs ( they’re favourite ) I wouldn’t have left her out and done that to her

Did you buy an Easter egg for her OP?

TheThreeMiracles · 18/04/2025 16:58

Should really have said ! I don’t expect an egg I really don’t I’m a grown adult but the way it was done wasn’t the best and I felt really embarrassed if I’m honest xx

Rattai · 18/04/2025 16:58

Did you DP not say ' oh but Mum you know Three Miracles can't eat this?'

Energe · 18/04/2025 16:59

A normal egg?

TheThreeMiracles · 18/04/2025 16:59

@ForOliveMember yes we brought her and her husband an egg each which was their favourite chocolate xx

Anxioustealady · 18/04/2025 16:59

I'd just drop the whole buying each other easter eggs thing. Maybe she couldn't find one that's dairy free?

Energe · 18/04/2025 16:59

Ignore me. I thought you had 3 kids and she was calling them the 3 miracles.

TheThreeMiracles · 18/04/2025 16:59

@Energenormal egg as in a milk chocolate one full of dairy which makes me unwell if I eat it )

TheThreeMiracles · 18/04/2025 17:00

@Rattai no he said “ thanks so much that’s really lovely of you” xx

OP posts:
TiredArse · 18/04/2025 17:01

Yeah, that a bit mean. She could have got you a bunch of daffodils even, if she couldn’t get a dairy free egg.

TheThreeMiracles · 18/04/2025 17:01

@Anxioustealady defo not, she brought my dd dairy free egg as she is intolerant to dairy too xx

OP posts:
TheThreeMiracles · 18/04/2025 17:02

@TiredArsethats my point it’s more the thought or lack off ! She could have even got a dairy free one for us to share it’s the fact she’s knowingly left me out and done it on purpose! She’s been really off with me since we announced I’m having another baby xx

intrepidpanda · 18/04/2025 17:04

I seriously wouldn't have thought a grown woman would have wanted one so I wouldn't have either.

Energe · 18/04/2025 16:59

Me too 🤣
Got totally confused about who got what, as I didn’t notice the username and read the post as daughter got two eggs, son got one, and partner got an egg to share with three children (miracles) so I was wondering where the third child was. Then OP mentioned pregnancy and I even thought “ is she pregnant with triplets?!” 🤣

🙄 fuck sake.

TheThreeMiracles · 18/04/2025 17:06

@intrepidpandathen same should have gone for the grown man, I wouldn’t have got for her husband and said that’s for you to share knowing full well she couldn’t have the same as him, id either buy one they both could have shared or brought one separate for them both, xx

OP posts:
QuickFawn · 18/04/2025 17:08

She’s rude and your dp should have called her out on it

TheThreeMiracles · 18/04/2025 17:08

@Pandimoanymum 😂😂 no I’ve got two kids and one on the way I call them my three miracles because I thought I’d never be able to have children but in this thread I should have been more clear as in she brought the egg for me and my dp to share and brought my 2 kids eggs each and then the third miracle is due in June ! Xx

I’d stop buying for her. Let DH buy her one if he wants to.

That wasn’t very nice of her.

TheThreeMiracles · 18/04/2025 17:10

@QuickFawn he didn’t ☹️ he took it and said thanks so much that’s lovely !! Didn’t say a word ! It’s the rudeness of it ! I wouldn’t dream of doing that to her! It’s not about the egg at all it’s more the way she did it! I’ll go buy myself a big chocolate cake later 😂😂

I seriously wouldn't have thought a grown woman would have wanted one so I wouldn't have either.

But a grown man wants one, why?

Eggsboxedandmelting · 18/04/2025 17:11

And now you know your worth she takes a back seat in any plans you would have previously included her in.
And your dh should have called her out on it...

Agreed

SillyQuail · 18/04/2025 17:17

My own dad got the DCs one each and a Maltsters one for me and DH to share, I don't like milk chocolate so DH will eat it all. My dad should know after 40 years that I only eat dark chocolate but I'm not taking it personally, I wouldn't either if I were you. If you want an egg just ask your DH to get you a dairy free one so he can have the other one to himself

That‘s hardly the same? OP cannot eat dairy chocolate. Why would you compare the two?
