Do you think they have attitude generally? is it more the teenage evening/weekend staff would you say? They are dreadful near us

They seem fine near me, but I can imagine it’s not the easiest job.

neverknowinglyunreasonable · 10/04/2025 21:19

Mine are luvving it.

Orangemintcream · 10/04/2025 21:20

Ours are so so fucking slow that I have stopped going.

IsItOnlyWednesday · 10/04/2025 21:20

Not at all, they’re incredibly polite and patient, especially given how obnoxious a lot of the customers are.

LadyGaGasPokerFace · 10/04/2025 21:22

It’ll be store dependent. I go to one in a quiet town and the staff are really helpful. I go to my local one and they’re just glad they got the order right and you’ve moved on 😂

BunfightBetty · 10/04/2025 21:22

We have a lovely 50-something Greek lady in ours, who always helps with our special order for food allergies, insists on serving it to our table and is generally an all-round sweetheart.

kanaka · 10/04/2025 21:22

All the ones near me have friendly staff.

A while back we went and after half an hours wait (and not receiving our food) I went to the window to be told by the manager “it’s a promotion day, what do you expect?” As if a random customer coming by will automatically have their marketing schedule memorised. Good customer service?

I had a fantastic young man serve me the other day he was enthusiastic cheerful apologised when something was wrong he was great sadly I don't think he will last he is just too nice for that store they tend to be dull slow and careless as in they literally couldn't care less a man was trying to order a cheeseburger with "no bits" on it the till staff just stood there and looked at him I stepped in and said he wants a plain cheeseburger asked if he wanted sauce relayed the info to the till staff the manager came over and told them to put some effort in fucking hell the customers shouldn't have to do your job 😂 (they haven't been back since either)

Well there will always be examples of poor service, your question was ‘do they have an attitude generally?’ My answer is ‘no’.

Telepathickitty · 10/04/2025 21:54

I've mainly always had pretty good service.

I've got a physical attribute that is quite obvious and I often find people don't look at me or talk to me more than they have to but at my local McDonald's there are several members of staff who have always just treated me as a human including a young lad who chatted to me and my kids whilst he was sweeping up and told me about his uni plans. I actually really appreciated that they seem pretty down to earth.

Could be dependent on the individual branch though. But mine all seem very pleasant at mine.

hannonle · 10/04/2025 21:54

I couldn't work in McDonald's. All that beeping is like being in an ICU. It's stressful enough just waiting inside for your order. BEEP BEEP BEEPBEEPBEEEEEEEEP

user1471538275 · 10/04/2025 21:58

Bit of a generalisation you're making there.

There are over 10 McDs in my city alone. There are several shifts of staff within each one.

There are a variety of personal attributes amongst those staff members, which will vary according to time of day, day of the month and how much crappy customer behaviour they've had to put up with in the last hour.

No, I don't think the young people are any worse than older staff.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 10/04/2025 22:07

It’s a difficult job and there has been a lot of publicity about sexual harassment of staff.

NattyTurtle59 · 10/04/2025 22:09

They are very polite and pleasant where I live - not the UK

It’s hardly cause for moaning months later though?

everythingeverything1981 · 10/04/2025 22:14

These people have to put up with a lot of shit, both from the public and little Hitler management. Give them a break. (Worked there a couple of times)

LucastaNoir · 10/04/2025 22:14

I’ve only ever had good service from people who seem under quite a bit of pressure and dealing with not always pleasant customers. I’ve been impressed by staff I’ve encountered - I travel a fair bit so this is London, midlands, north west and wales.

lap90 · 10/04/2025 22:16

Never had an issue with any member of staff when visiting one.

IVFmumoftwo · 10/04/2025 22:34

A lot of mum's work at them too. I think it probably varies by store but they do have to put up with a lot of abuse on a regular basis. It is not an easy job.

QuartzIlikeit · 10/04/2025 22:41

One of my DC worked there when at college. The abuse they got from customers every day blew my mind. The sheer amount of middle aged people who spoke to them like they were shit on their shoe genuinely surprised me. They way the delivery drivers treated them was something else entirely.

They rarely had any difficulties with late teen/early 20s customers (which are those most people think of will be difficult or abusive to staff) but the attitudes of people in their 40s plus towards the generally young workers was abhorrent a lot of the time.

I think the staff earn every penny of their wages and unless you know someone who works there you wouldnt believe how awful a significant amount of customers are to mainly late teenage aged staff.

Thats not an excuse for poor customer service but I completely understand how they lose their cool at times - so would I.

lunaemma · 10/04/2025 23:06

i barely have contact with them. Order and pay on the app, collect in the drive through and leave

This 100%. Always find the staff/crew members lovely and helpful.. Yes, even the young ones. 🙄

HousedInMySoul · 10/04/2025 23:32

I always find them very polite. Apart from one years ago who wanted me to eat the chicken burger that they'd got wrong on the order, instead of the quorn burger I'd actually ordered (was shown on the receipt) when I said no she said something like 'it'll just go to waste, then' and lobbed it overarm into the bin 😂

WearyAuldWumman · 10/04/2025 23:33

I went through a stage where I used the local drive-thru far too much. (Haven't been for over a year now.)

The staff were always lovely.
