Running out of petrol

So after a discussion with Oh yesterday can I ask how many times you have ever run out of petrol and how many years you have been driving.

Person A run out once in 25 years of driving.

Person B run out 4 times in 30 years of driving.

Person A thinks B is irresponsible and most people have never run out. Person B thinks 4 times in 30 years is not much.

19 years driving and never once run out. That includes a lot of driving around in the highlands where petrol stations can be few and far between.

I ran out on a motorbike, between Scrabster and Cape Wrath. I'd passed a station and reckoned I'd make the next one - no gague on the bike. A bloke stopped to see if I'd broken down, then drooped me at petrol station. That was in 1997.

I bought a fuel can and petrol, the lovely lady gave me a cup of tea and asked customers on my behalf to give me a lift. It didn't take long, before another bloke gave me a ride.

I rode conservatively back to the petrol station and then back to Scrabster. I never did make it to Cape Wrath.

I've never run out in a car.

30 odd years and once (I was pretty young and it was New Year’s Day and I hadn’t planned on petrol stations being closed).

If it means anything, nearly 4 years and never run out.
