To Think The Daily Mail Cannot Stoop Much Lower

Article in the DM this afternoon 'How to Profit from War'.
It is in the M+ section but the synopsis suggests it is advising readers how to invest money in arms companies in the light of the Russia/Ukraine situation and countries in Europe arming themselves.
The DM is a war-mongering, divisive, fear-raking, capitalist, shameless piece of shit.

Why share it and give the article more traffic by linking to it? Do you work for them? Clicks are clicks I guess

Nope, voted labour and I don’t even really get what you mean because I have not clicked your link. Notice you didn’t deny it though

OP it’s not really cool to accuse people of being a Tory because they don’t immediately jump to agree with you. Quite pathetic really

araiwa · 18/02/2025 00:30

Hurrah for the blackshirts

INeedAnotherName · 18/02/2025 00:47

If it's in the M+ section you need to sign up to read it (which i refuse to do). I guess you have signed up 😬

LuluBlakey1 · 18/02/2025 00:17

Ah- you're a Tory!

That remark is not only puerile but it makes no sense!

Why would criticising the Daily Mail indicate a Tory? Surely a Tory is in favour of it if we want to believe such a tired cliche?

If you're not a Tory how come YOURE reading the Mail then huh?
Did you open their website "by accident"?

Oh of course! Not just "accidentally" reading the Mail but bloody well PAID to do so!!

What a plonker!😂

No33 · 18/02/2025 01:15

Paying to read the DM, yet calling another a Tory 😬

istara · 18/02/2025 03:23

If you're on Safari you can read the paywalled articles by clicking the Show Reader icon on the left of the URL bar.

Also you don't see any ads this way so aren't funding the advertisers who would choose something abhorrent like this to make money.

You can read the comments for free though, and encouragingly the vast majority of readers seem to be disgusted by this as well.

hattie43 · 18/02/2025 04:51

I have to laugh at all these anti daily mail tropes . You all despise it yet all read it . It's the highest read paper so get used to it .

knitnerd90 · 18/02/2025 04:53

There is no bottom for the Daily Mail (and no, I genuinely don't read it, but the headlines go viral enough)

Same here!! All the ‘sorry for the Daily Fail’ link’ 😂😂 I read it along with all the other news every morning on my phone! 🤷🏼‍♀️

ExtraOnions · 18/02/2025 06:54

The article is absolutely one of the lowest things I’ve ever seen on there. Profiteering out if other people’s misery. The kind of people who kept a black market going in WW2.

Nobody is so innocent as to believe people don't profit from war. Many people do, not just the arms manufacturers, etc.
And the faux-outrage at the DM is risable. Another poster who clearly pays for it, then has a fit of the vapours because it's written something 'outrageous'.

Surely any one with any sense will look into this seriously.
Europe including the UK has left itself extremely vulnerable by sending so much military equipment to the Ukraine. If Europe want any future security they'll need to massively ramp up their military manufacturing. You dont think Russia isn't restocking? This money will have to come out of the economy somewhere so why wouldn't sensible people look to invest. Not investing isn't going to stop it happening but will give you more to whine about in the future when other people who did plan ahead are doing better than you. Hopefully your righteousness will keep you warm.

You prefer Chinese and Russian arms manufacturers to have better shareholder funding and more resource's to invest in weapons than defence manufacturers in democracies?

Mad.

If we want democracies to defend themselves then they need arms industries. That's reality.

thepariscrimefiles · 18/02/2025 07:23

Why would anyone be surprised that the 'Hurrah for the Blackshirts' Daily Mail would print something awful about making a profit from war?

Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast · 18/02/2025 07:26

War is big business.
It's only that most people don't know it.
Thr UK is one of the world's biggest arms dealers.

Exactly - Russia is outpacing Europe and the US combined in military manufacturing. It's all very well to say war is bad, but surely having no defence is worse.

Yes, war is expensive. But sadly sometimes inevitable so the UK needs to be prepared and invest enough into its armed forces. The future of everyone in this country depends on it. Would you rather we didn’t and just hope for the best? Wake up and smell the coffeee.

What a very weird conclusion from PP’s comment - I’d think the opposite!

SunDash · 18/02/2025 07:58

Buying shares in arms is a no trainer from an investment point of view.
There are ethical concerns of course...but the arguement goes you re investing in peace, as in Putin won't attack us if he thinks he won't get away with it.

I stated simple facts without giving any opinion.
How did you infer my opinion on the issue in order to decide I need to "wake up and smell the coffee" or was that a general comment not aimed at me specifically?
