Dippy egg - urgent

Hey! This is not aibu. Sorry posting for quick traffic

My daughter is poorly and has just asked for a dippy egg and soldiers but I can't remember how long to cook the eggs, google gives to many answers !!

I am boiling the water as we speak ! Help !

What kind of crazy person keeps their eggs in the fridge.

Also depends on the size of your egg!

There's no hard and fast.

Medium, room temperature egg?

Four minutes boil in a pan from cold.

a) my mother is American so everything goes in the fridge by habit
b) I don't have space on my sides for more crap.
c) they keep longer. We don't go through a huge number of eggs
d) my fridge has an egg rack, so it can't be that unsual!

Temperature in supermarkets is controlled. With central heating house temperature can vary. That's why we are advised to keep eggs in fridge.

A soft-boiled egg. I'd never heard them called 'dippy eggs' until MN either.

Take egg (or eggs) out of fridge. Put in saucepan with cold water and a bit of salt. Set gas to max. Bring to boil. Once at rolling boil set time for 3 mins.

This is with normal sized eggs. I don't buy large eggs as it can cause stress to the hens.
