I smell badly- updated post

Hi! I posted on here ages ago (I annoyingly can’t find the post and have namechanged since then) but basically it was about how I smelled badly of BO no matter what deodorant/shower gel/soap/products I used, no matter how often I showered and no matter how regularly I replaced my clothes.

just wanted to post an update in case anyone is about and remembers it… I found something that works! good old fashioned liquid roll on dove deodorant! I had tried most types of deoderant already and nothing seemed to work so I sort of stuck with the cream deodorant sticks (eg the Mitchum or dove sticks) but I realise how they were the problem

I think when I tried other deodorants I didn’t give them long enough and possibly still had traces of the cream stick on me (even after I showered) and that’s maybe why I thought nothing was helping.

I decided to give liquid roll on a go for a few days as I was unable to get the normal sticks in the shop and bloody hell the difference was insane. For the last week or so I haven’t smelled of BO once and I realise now that the cream sticks were the issue all along

For context- I showered last night before bed and used the roll on before bed and got up early this morning and didn’t shower- it’s now nearly 6pm and I still don’t smell at all. Previously I smelled of BO after a few hours and it was so bad other people were noticing it. I got my friends to smell me the other day and they said I smelled so, so much better and not of BO

random post I know but just thought I’d post in case anyone remembers because received so many amazing comments with advice and I’m so grateful for it all. I could genuinely burst into tears with happiness that it’s fixed I’m so happy because it was honestly ruining my life!

Also I know that not every product will work for everyone and some people might prefer the cream sticks vs roll on but just thought I’d post in case anyone is having the same issue… make sure you try an new product for several days because the old product might still be affecting the results at first! I only found out the roll on worked because I had to use it for a few days because I couldn’t get my normal stuff😊

I remember you, so glad you found something that works

BlondeMamaToBe · 19/01/2025 17:57

I remember your post. Glad you’ve got it sorted.

Do you use body wash instead of bar soap? I find that body washes don't remove the residue from cream stick anti-perspirants.

It could have been a build up over time!

Just thought I would mention this as I had to make the switch to bar soap :)
Glad you've found something that works.

Itiswhysofew · 19/01/2025 18:00

I thought of you recently and hoped you'd managed to find something to help you.

That's really good newsSmile

CrispyCrumpets · 19/01/2025 18:02

I also swear by roll on deodorant. Glad you found a solution!

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 19/01/2025 18:07

I agree with this. The only thing that properly shifts under arm deodorant or antiperspirant is bar soap. I like the sainsburys own tea tree one

Lovingtheglitter · 19/01/2025 18:15

I do remember your post and I'm glad you have it sorted

Unrepentantfarter · 19/01/2025 18:18

I remember you! Glad you've found something that works! I find that some brands and types work much better than others for me, too.

Thanks for updating with that useful tip about giving it time.

MissMoan · 19/01/2025 18:37

So happy for you that you found a solution. It must be a huge relief.

DreamSpaceships · 19/01/2025 18:41

I’m pleased you found something that works. I do find that those cream ones don’t wash off very easily (and clog my razor) so I wonder if they also keep old sweat trapped on you?

Newyearbutsameoldproblems · 19/01/2025 19:45

I remember your other thread OP.
It's really good to get such a positive update.

walkingheels · 19/01/2025 19:48

OP you could also try glycolic acid (used for face such as a toner) under your armpits as this kills the bacteria

SoNiceToComeHomeTo · 19/01/2025 19:49

That's great, OP. I like the Dove roll on too, and it's cheap. Never got on with the cremes, they were kind of sticky and didn't smell that good themselves.

Jb2182 · 19/01/2025 20:04

I remember you OP. I'm so pleased for you! ❤️

Summerhillsquare · 19/01/2025 20:15

Roll on vastly more effective than other types in my experience.

Thanksforyourlackofthought · 19/01/2025 20:40

I love a bit of good news! ❤

Businessflake · 19/01/2025 20:45

Roll on so much better but oh my god they can take an age to dry!

AutumnFroglets · 19/01/2025 20:53

I remember you too. This is awesome news and I am so glad you found something that worked!

HeffalumpsAndWoozlesAreHoneyRobbingTwats · 19/01/2025 21:01

I remember your post, OP. Really glad you got it sorted, you seemed so distressed in your original thread. Happy for you.

Milkmani8 · 19/01/2025 21:04

Good news @Aproblemsolved As others have said try and use a bar soap and wash cloth to really clear off the old antiperspirant. I do use a cream stick but if I scratch my armpit, it’s all
under my nails if I’m in the shower. I use a fresh wash cloth every day for arm pits to scrub the antiperspirant off and another for my body. I always have a shower at night and then sleep without antiperspirant- not sure if it would work for your but good to give your skin some time to breathe without anything on it.
