For this to give me the ick

My DP has taken to coming into the house and immediately changing into scruffy trackie bottoms and a hoody (very same style). He wears exactly the same thing every single day unless at work (shifts so not everyday) or we specifically go out somewhere nice. It’s starting to really grate on me and give me the ick, but he says that I am being unreasonable and trying to start an argument. AIBU?

Sounds no different to me throwing my jammies on after work.

Tia86 · 04/01/2025 18:40

Why shouldn't they come home and put on their comfy clothing?

Jemimapinotduck · 04/01/2025 18:41

I do this, straight into my PJ's or trackies when I get home. Don't want to be sitting around or cooking/washing up in my work clothes

Ickickick25 · 04/01/2025 18:43

But (for example) would you change into your trackers after shipping at lunchtime then rechange when going out later on? Maybe IABU !

My DH and I both practically live in comfy-wear. I fail to see the problem.

OurDreamLife · 04/01/2025 18:46

The minute I come home I put comfy clothes on.

SensibleSigma · 04/01/2025 18:47

I’d get him some tidy ones so he has enough and isn’t outright slobby.

thechampselysee · 04/01/2025 18:48

Maybe you just don't like him anymore?

JHound · 04/01/2025 18:49

Yeah I do the same. These are my house clothes.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 04/01/2025 18:49

I do exactly that, yes. Because I have a small parrot who is mostly free range and I like to keep my clothes-i-wear-outside-the-house clean.

If your husband wants to get changed every time he comes home, surely that's up to him. If you think his at-home clothes are scruffy the compromise is better ones, not saying he can't change.

Ickickick25 · 04/01/2025 18:49

Seems I am the strange one 🤣 I do love him but just feel like if I have to look at that hoody one more time I’ll burn it!

Is he washing them regularly? I wouldn't love it tbh but if they are clean I would probably bite my tongue.

Yes

MaterCogitaVera · 04/01/2025 18:50

I mostly live in pyjamas or loungewear when I’m at home, unless we have guests. Nice clothes cost money, and I choose mine carefully, so I don’t see the point in increasing wear and tear by wearing them when I’m just at home.

wizzywig · 04/01/2025 18:50

I'm with you op. There's shabby loungewear and there's nice lounge wear

I bought DH a really nice Paul Smith hoodie and some of those cool Japanese tracky bums.

Comfy for him, hot for me. Job's a good un.

They can get a bit smelly! I think sometimes he can think oh I’ve only worn them a few hours but obviously still gets sweaty…

YABU

I find it weird people 'relax' at home in jeans! 🤣

ColonelRhubarbBikini · 04/01/2025 18:58

Nah YABU. Home is for comfies. I look like a troll doll within ten minutes of getting in the door.

HackGrey · 04/01/2025 18:59

I live in my cotton romper from oodie. I have 3 identical ones.

He could just air them out. Many people don't wash their clothes after only wearing them once.
Do you work OP?

beauborino · 04/01/2025 19:09

Get back from work .

We have "house clothes "leggings ,scruffy t shirts and hoodies for me .Baggy joggers and hoodie for DP.
Love them -love each other -glam up when going out ❤️

delphinedupont · 04/01/2025 19:13

Yep, sorry op, yabu! We have ‘house clothes’ and change whenever we come home. Obviously these do get washed and we have various items, leggings and sweater for me, old jeans/joggers and top for DH. I change as soon as I come in even if I might have to go back out later. Too many nice clothes getting ruined by cooking in them, cleaning in them etc. Plus you can’t beat stretchy pants to relax in 😂

I don’t mean after once! I mean he can wear them 4 times and say oh I’ve only worn them a few hours. Seems AIBU anyway.

Yes - I work full time, why?
