I've just fallen for an email. I never fall for this.
I clicked in the link and answered questions. Then asked for bank details to send the advent scratch card 🙈 Only then did I click. Hopefully I haven't compromised my email? Or phone?

I contacted postcode lottery no reply. Quick enough to take our money.

It's the Friday before Christmas, half of them have probably already finished work, and if this thread is anything to go by, they may have been swamped by people such as you reporting a potential fraud, so they aren't going to be able to respond to your query in a flash.

Razzmatazz78 · 20/12/2024 17:01

I'm so annoyed I fell for this, I'm blaming sleep deprivation from a teething 5 month old.

I've contacted my bank and it is a subscription scam. The £2 payment is pending and I'm now signed up to a fitness website which would take £40 a month if I don't cancel.
My bank have blocked the future payments. I went on to the website to cancel and it says you can't cancel within 12 hours of signing up which is probably so people forget to go back on and cancel but I'm going to cancel on their website once the 12 hours are up as well as the bank blocking the payments.
I've frozen my card and I'm going to order a new one as well.
Is there anything else I need to do?

I have only signed up to postcode lottery this month so it didn't immediately flag as odd to me because I'm still new to how it all works. I'm so annoyed with myself 🙈

Acknowledge the scam. I know they can't do anything* *butmaybe warn people?

They have acknowledged it on their website with just a couple of lines of text at the bottom of this page and there was a post on Facebook but I didn't see it until it was too late for me 🙈

SiobhanSharpe · 20/12/2024 17:09

I did fill in the survey but twigged when they asked me for £1.99 postage to send the advent calendar. I didn't give any bank details.

AllstarFacilier · 20/12/2024 18:09

Oh that’s weird, I’ve just read this post and then I got the same email!

That's good. It's pretty convincing that's the worry.

I had the Cadbury WhatsApp scam and started forwarding the winning invitation to others until I realised I wasn’t a winner. I never entered my bank details but had to go and delete all the WhatsApp invites I’d sent 🫢

I got a link sent via a friend inviting me to take a quiz to win a Cadbury chocolate hamper. I ‘won’ and as part of claiming the prize you sent an invite to friends via WhatsApp. I started sending the invites, then friend said she’d been asked to put bank details in for postage. I swiftly deleted the fake invites I had sent. Then in daily mail there was an article warning of the Cadbury scam.

Hi, i was a victim of this scam. All those that have said they have cancelled the subscription, who was it wirh? My 1.99 payment was with bclpayments.net but im worried about going on their website. And ive had a emal saying ive joinedup to theebook.net and provided a username and password. Which I didnt do. But im scared of going on thwir website in case i make it worse. Who has people been signed up witj and did they go on these websites to cancel?

LushLemonTart · 21/12/2024 12:21

Mine was a fitness website, it got an email with an invoice and email and password. I went to the website and I logged in and cancelled it. I've got an email confirming it has been cancelled. I also removed all of the information it had in the profile and changed it all to NA because the boxes required something.
My bank have also blocked future payments to the fitness website and I've ordered a new card.

user1469190430 · 21/12/2024 16:45

Mine was an ebook centre

user1469190430 · 21/12/2024 16:49

I went on the site entered email and password (they provided) and cancelled. Confirmation email received of cancellations. Will be keeping an eye on my credit card over next three days

Tara336 · 21/12/2024 16:49

I've been bombarded by these postcode lottery emails the last few days, they seem to be sneaking into my inbox and not the spam folder. I'm getting about 10 a day, haven't opened any I'm just deleting them as soon as I see them.

Same! I don’t do postcode lottery so knew it was a scam. Can’t believe how many I’ve had. No sooner have I deleted and blocked than another one has appeared in my inbox. My Hotmail junk filter is generally shit so I do get a lot but it’s been ridiculous today and yesterday with these postcode lottery ones

Doydoy123 · 31/12/2024 09:00

I have fallen for this scam - they took 1.99 on 20 Dec and today they took £25 - contacted bank they can put through a request to stop further payments but said I have to contact the merchant to cancel any contractual subscription!!! How the bloody hell do I do that!! Have googled the email, the merchant name and come
up with nothing!! The merchant showing on bank statement is Myquickbooksnet.
