BEWARE POSTCODE LOTTERY Advent Calendar Scam

I've just fallen for an email. I never fall for this.
I clicked in the link and answered questions. Then asked for bank details to send the advent scratch card 🙈 Only then did I click. Hopefully I haven't compromised my email? Or phone?

This is the one I got. Dear people's postcode lottery customer was a bit of a giveaway!

If these are email scams, report to the government website.

[email protected]

Its from this website https://www.gov.uk/report-suspicious-emails-websites-phishing

You just forward the offending email to them at report@phishing.gov.uk

It can’t help you, if you’ve clicked on links, but might help getting the perpetrators stopped.

Oh god, I was tired and fell for this, I actually win a prize from postcode lottery last week and it looked so genuine. I gave my details but the payment declined. Do you think I should stop my card? Really need it so close to Christmas…

Yup, the one I received was this one - scumbags

Vgbeat · 19/12/2024 23:43

I've had 2 today, I am quite good checking emails so I checked the senders details and both were dodgy Gmail email addresses. I blocked and reported as spam

Mine didn't say "dear people's postcode lottery winner". There must be different versions going around 😬
Mine looked like this

I fell for this and feel stupid because I entered my bank details..why do I need a scratch card calendar??!! anyway I've frozen my card but now I'm anxious :(

Choccyp1g · 20/12/2024 10:48

I just received the same scam email. Got as far as opening the email, and probably would have gone further if I hadn't remembered this post.

So thankyou OP, very kind of you to take the trouble to warn us.

This is a subscription scam, if you do not contact them within 3 days they will take more money from your account, what for it doesn’t say. If it is not cancelled then you should contact your bank immediately. This advice was from my Credit Card Company

user1469190430 · 20/12/2024 11:29

See my message, when you unfreeze your card they may still be able to take cash

I always click on the from at the top and if it has newsletter or some dodgy email address it is spam. They sign up a load of emails with only slight changes and send out repeat emails usually saying you have won something. I have had lots of rac ones and boots ones but the postcode lottery ones are recent.

Georgyporky · 20/12/2024 12:01

It went to my junk folder, but I've reported & blocked as well.

Biggest giveaway was "Dear " with no name.

Whenwillthewashingend · 20/12/2024 12:16

I nearly fell for it, purely because I only joined the lottery a couple of weeks ago.
Thankfully I googled, and saw this thread.

Same here. Also had a version of this email and as the postcode lottery send out vouchers and random stuff anyway I did wonder if it was legit.

petereplica · 20/12/2024 12:43

At the very bottom of the email it says "Bolluxe Ltd" !!!

TypingoftheDead · 20/12/2024 12:55

I had an email from someone impersonating a friend a few months ago, asking me to buy Apple gift cards. I did reply to it, stupidly, but luckily twigged before any money was spent. I’m normally quite vigilant and thankfully most of this crap arrives in the junk folder anyway.

LushLemonTart · 19/12/2024 14:38

I did I answered a survey. It didn't say I'd won 1k said it was a scratch card.

I'm worried.

I'd change email password just in case and if it comes up as an option when you change password to log out on all devices I'd do that too.

Hellodolly21 · 20/12/2024 13:41

I’ve just fallen for this scam and given all my info and paid £1.99 to some subscription thing ffs! I was distracted when doing it! Damn it, I can’t get in touch with my bank as no phone number and a bot on the contact us, they’ve said they’ll contact me back but now I think that it could be the scammers. Omg 🤦🏻‍♀️😩

ImDrinkingRum · 20/12/2024 16:03

I've had two more different looking versions of the same scam today!
