Was it always this bad? I haven’t watched it in years and years but remember once looking forward to it. Turned it on tonight and it’s one of the worst things I’ve ever watched. Almost embarrassing.

It's awful.

I'm sure I remember it being fun and full of energy, but it's so flat and boring now.

They played one segment twice!

ThisBrickPombear · 15/11/2024 22:15

So glad someone said it!!

Wendolino · 15/11/2024 22:15

I haven't watched it since Terry Wogan was on it, but the build up to it is so unbearable I avoid the whole thing.

AverageFruit · 15/11/2024 22:16

Yeah me and my partner kept giving each other looks like wtf 😬 total cringe and don't think it's as popular as it was in the past.

VanillaPlanifolia · 15/11/2024 22:17

Look it's not meant to be fun. It's meant to make you cry and give money for the children. The rest is just filler in between to jolt you into tears when the reality of how shitty life is for some kids smacks you in the eyeballs

O6bftdff · 15/11/2024 22:17

Nothing about it is entertaining. What on earth was the shit jokes segment about?

Who was waiting for Gary Oldman to drop the C-Bomb?

Pleatherandlace · 15/11/2024 22:17

It was always awful no?

RosieLeaf · 15/11/2024 22:17

Agreed. Hate all of it. And the selling of the utter tat in the weeks beforehand

Even the sad bits aren’t well done though.

Why were people crying when Paddy did his bike marathon? I was confused listening to BBC 2 radio in the car this morning 🤷‍♀️

AverageFruit · 15/11/2024 22:20

It's always the same presenters on rotation each year - they need to change it up a bit 🤏 and do away with the crap jokes

TeenLifeMum · 15/11/2024 22:21

I always preferred comic relief but can’t remember the last time we watched that either.

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 15/11/2024 22:22

It has never been a fun entertaining watch, not ever.

LaurieFairyCake · 15/11/2024 22:22

I've never watched it, ever

So what's that, 40 years ?

Clearly I've never missed anything 😂

Topseyt123 · 15/11/2024 22:24

It's cringeworthy and has been for years.

I'm wondering if it is now so bad that it deters people from actually donating money. That defeats the object of the exercise.

It really is indescribably bad. Feels like being in a weird 90s time warp.

I can’t believe it’s finished at 10pm (not that I’ve watched, we just came home 5 mins before the end and saw they were doing the ‘final grand total’). Is it just because I was looking at it from a child’s perspective and therefore 10pm was really late or did it used to be on so much later? I have recollections of like 2am?!

Boobygravy · 15/11/2024 22:25

Vernon Kay looks like a 70’s porn star.

ssd · 15/11/2024 22:26

I cant stand Mel either

Yes this is me too. I remember it being exciting when it was on. Must’ve been a child’s perspective. Don’t know how my parents endured it.

Me either

It used to be good back in the day. Possibly.

Utter shite now. But I suppose if it raises funds🤷‍♀️

Exactly I've no idea what everyone else has been watching previously that they ever found it enjoyable. It's not meant to be enjoyable you're just meant to give your money and cry

What? They don't have to be "well done" their story is their story
