Accidentally liked boyfs ex photo on Facebook notified

Embarrassedhelpme · 11/11/2024 13:10

Please help me . I am absolutely mortified. ( not notified ) I was having a nose at my boyfs ex on fb .
Ended up down the rabbit hole of looking at photos from about 6 years ago like you do. Not obsessing or anything like that very happy with my boyfriend just having a look as was interested. Anyway I only went and accidently liked a photo of her with my boyfriends sister of all people ... I was horrified and went to unlike however my phone was then locked and the time it took me to unlock my phone I went back to the pic and unliked it. So prob around 5 seconds it was liked for.
Anyway I am obviously mortified and my friend suggested blocking her instantly as apparently this stops her seeing the likes. Does anyone know if this is true please? I'm sat with a red face atm . Not only could she have possibly seen the like but my boyfriend and his sister also ... omg I've learnt never ever to nose on fb again 😳😳😳

Pretty sure it will still sit there on their notifications no matter what you do.
Just style it out! "yeah I was being nosy, don't we all do that sometimes?"

Embarrassing though.

SJandBabydoc · 11/11/2024 13:16

I'd deactivate your account for a while. I think that might make the notification go away? But the might have see it by now.

I'm cringing for you 🤦‍♀️

ButDoYouAvocado · 11/11/2024 13:17

Everyone does it, honestly don’t worry about it.

handyandy1 · 11/11/2024 13:19

I've done this before and the person called right afterwards to my partner to tell them what I'd done. I was obviously mortified but just passed it off with a shrug and I was just being nosy, shrug shoulders and act as if its perfectly normal!

amoreoamicizia · 11/11/2024 13:20

Oh God, I've done this when I was trying to find out if the ex was back in town from living abroad. I actually ditched some social media after that.

DollopOfFun · 11/11/2024 13:22

She may not even notice. Just keep telling yourself that 😁

If it makes you feel better, one Saturday morning i noticed that FIL's wife had quite a number of FB posts that were just various spellings of the name of FIL's previous wife. She'd obviously had a few sherries and decided to have a bit of a stalk, only she'd been posting in her status and not the search box!

I'm cringing too 😳 so the blocking her straight away wont stop her seeing me then?

I've logged out of fb and got rid of the app on my phone... it's too embarrassing 🤣🤣🤣

@Embarrassedhelpme sorry, didn't see that bit. Yeah she won't see you now you've blocked her.

Maybe in future, create a fake FB profile and snoop on that, that's what I do 🤣

ARichtGoodDram · 11/11/2024 13:33

Was your Bf's sister tagged in the photo?

If she was then you could have been nosying on her pics rather than the exes if anyone asks...

Wow that's terrible 😂 but very funny though ... I'm telling myself shes very busy today and hasnt had time to look on her Facebook. I blocked her instantly so I am hoping this has done something . My friend is adamant it stops them seeing who liked it as they are blocked from looking or something. Who knows ? I'm just clinging on to desperation at this point x

I accidentally liked my ex's wedding pic on his new wife's insta 😂 Nearly had a heart attack and deactivated my personal insta after that. Mortified.

MissCordeliasCoats · 11/11/2024 13:40

And this is why you need a second FB account. I thought everyone had one for these types of situations Grin just give yourself a very generic name.

🤣 I'll take your advice and set up a fake fb account. After I've calmed down that is

I'm really hoping this is true about the blocking thing as I was hyperventilating earlier 🤣 I'm starting to calm down now and yes I will set up a fake for future stalking

Back when I was on FB I was being nosy at an ex, then kept the phone in my hand while I went to get a delivery, when I looked at the screen again I hadn't locked it and I had shared a picture of his wife and 2 kids and added the "Feeling emotional 🥰" caption on it 🤣

I also know someone who was nosing at her exes new girlfriend and somehow tagged herself in one of her photos.

@InformerYaNoSayDaddyMeSnowMeIGoBlameALickyBoom oh my god you win, that is horrendous. Sorry I just can't stop laughing.

Everyone has a nose at these things, I would honestly just pretend to have no knowledge of it and if ever asked (unlikely) just look confused and say they must have mistaken you for someone else.

Luckily as the sister is not tagged, she would have not have been notified. Only the ex would potentially see it - and then it's gone now, so she is also probably questioning whether she saw anything. And really, who will she tell without looking a little unhinged herself..

Style it out. You could put out one of those - 'Do not accept any friends requests from me as I have been hacked' style posts and then claim any weird behaviour from your account must be linked to that.

To put this in some kind of perspective for you, @Embarrassedhelpme (if @InformerYaNoSayDaddyMeSnowMeIGoBlameALickyBoom 's post hasn't already done so) - a while ago someone posted about how they'd been taking a swatch at their ex's FB page. 😀

Ex was now married with a baby. Their profile photo featured them with new spouse and baby. The MN poster managed to tag herself as the baby and didn't realise until much, much later.

OliviaRodrighost · 11/11/2024 14:03

Just to sympathise with my own mortifying Facebook story. When DH and I had first started talking (on Twitter), I wanted a nosey at some of his pictures, so I searched for his name on Facebook. Only I hadn’t typed it into the search, I’d set my status as his full name 😂😂

SidhuVicious · 11/11/2024 14:03

This is one of these things that loads of people do but is still not cool to admit (snooping that is). I've always said that FB needs a safe mode where you can't interact with anything. Touchscreen devices are lethal as it's relatively easy to tap and leave a like etc while scrolling.
