Accidentally liked boyfs ex photo on Facebook notified

Embarrassedhelpme · 11/11/2024 13:10

Please help me . I am absolutely mortified. ( not notified ) I was having a nose at my boyfs ex on fb .
Ended up down the rabbit hole of looking at photos from about 6 years ago like you do. Not obsessing or anything like that very happy with my boyfriend just having a look as was interested. Anyway I only went and accidently liked a photo of her with my boyfriends sister of all people ... I was horrified and went to unlike however my phone was then locked and the time it took me to unlock my phone I went back to the pic and unliked it. So prob around 5 seconds it was liked for.
Anyway I am obviously mortified and my friend suggested blocking her instantly as apparently this stops her seeing the likes. Does anyone know if this is true please? I'm sat with a red face atm . Not only could she have possibly seen the like but my boyfriend and his sister also ... omg I've learnt never ever to nose on fb again 😳😳😳

It reminds me of when I accidentally shared one of those ridiculous buzz feed quizzes to my facebook - along the lines of 'find out if you are heading for divorce' or some cringe. I had people asking me if everything was ok etc. I hadn't even taken the quiz, god knows how I managed to do it.

Back when I was on FB I was being nosy at an ex, then kept the phone in my hand while I went to get a delivery, when I looked at the screen again I hadn't locked it and I had shared a picture of his wife and 2 kids and added the "Feeling emotional 🥰" caption on it 🤣

I also know someone who was nosing at her exes new girlfriend and somehow tagged herself in one of her photos.

Omfg 🙈😭😂

I think it was on here I read this - someone tagged themselves in their ex's new gf's pregnancy announcement scan picture.

InThePinkScarf · 11/11/2024 15:06

I do it all the time. Accidentally like stuff or send friend requests. Very embarrassing.
I remember that lady who tagged herself in the baby photo. Made me laugh a lot !

DollopOfFun · 11/11/2024 13:22

She may not even notice. Just keep telling yourself that 😁

If it makes you feel better, one Saturday morning i noticed that FIL's wife had quite a number of FB posts that were just various spellings of the name of FIL's previous wife. She'd obviously had a few sherries and decided to have a bit of a stalk, only she'd been posting in her status and not the search box!

I did this once! Thankfully I realised instantly

OuterSpaceCadet · 11/11/2024 15:20

I have my phone screen set to not automatically turn off (for following recipes etc). As a consequence, my phone has several times sat accidentally unlocked in my pocket merrily taking unchartered paths through FB presumably with every brush of my finger tips.

Most recent terrible outcome was sending a friend request to the husband of a friend of a friend. Worse, he accepted, so I then felt that undoing it would make more of a statement than leaving it.

stuckinthemiddlewithyou1 · 11/11/2024 15:26

Ah but imagine if she sees your notification and then goes to look for you and realizes she is blocked… double embarrassment. All the thoughts I’ve thunk before on doing similar!

Sorry OP. I’ve done this on Facebook, instagram and LinkedIn (I pressed connect with my husbands ex wife… we have nothing professional in common!).

I feel your pain!!!!

OMG. On the plus side you have made me feel a bit better about all the cringe things I've ever done, so thank you😂

I think I can top this 🥴

My partner is a widower and I’d obviously had a stalk of his FB page when we first met and I’d seen her remembrance page. I saw a post from my now partner announcing her death.

At this point I wasnt friends on FB with him. Time rolled on and it came to the month of her anniversary so I had another look to see the date so I could send a hug and back off a bit that day ( he has kids). Only I somehow clicked the “add friend/join condolences page or whatever it said. My blood ran cold knowing he’d get the notification. I deleted it immediately and haven’t been on the page since.

It was 3 years ago and I still wonder if he got the notification. We are still together so it caused no harm and I’m actually quite friendly with his MIL, his wife’s mum so it could have been worse!

stuckinthemiddlewithyou1 · 11/11/2024 15:43

When I did this I searched every Internet forum for advice and I think the consensus was that if you liked something and then very quickly unliked it the notification would not get sent. Sure it was the same for friends request although I do remember also snooping on my dh exs friends on one occasion and seeing ‘requested’ on a friends button which means I accidentally pressed it on another snooping session without realizing. In that case she definitely would have gotten the notification!

Anyway, years on and I’m a bit more secure and feel the need to snoop less. I only snoop when I want to see if she has put on any weight (I’m terrible!!!!)

There's a really attractive guy in our gym, like total grey fox, king of the gods body and a really nice guy too.

My friend shared his story to me on Instagram of him on holiday with his top off and I replied to her saying "oh my" with panting face emojis.

But it didn't send to my friend. As it was a shared story I watched I SENT IT DIRECTLY TO HIM.

Still even thinking about it makes me feel sick 😭🤣

He might have taken that as a welcome ego boost he has Still Got It.

CoolPlayer · 11/11/2024 16:10

I had someone I dated in the pasts current gf like one of my pictures (then unlike it) I guessed she was just having a nosey an I just moved on with my day x

OliviaRodrighost · 11/11/2024 16:29

Not exactly Facebook but does anyone remember a post on here where the OP typed in the address of a guy she fancied in the office as she was nosey about where he lived, but she accidentally set off the Google voice directions and it loudly announced “calculating route to [Guy she fancied’s address]” 😱

ThatTealViewer · 11/11/2024 16:43

I have never laughed quite so much on a thread. OP, thank you so much for starting it. Your mortification has birthed greatness. 🤣

PreBlendOils · 11/11/2024 16:45

My ex dh's new girlfriend accidently liked a post on my business page. I saw the notification but when I clicked on it, it disappeared so she must have unliked it. The only reason I knew it was her is because I had already stalked her! 🤣🤣

I accidently liked a post on my son's nursery teacher's husbands fb profile. I was deep into a Facebook stalk that night.

I also sent friend requests to half the mums at my dcs school during the great Facebook glitch.

To be honest, I couldn't care less! I'm a nosey cow and if you don't want people looking at your profile, don't have it set to public 🤷‍♀️

SquatWeightaMinute · 11/11/2024 16:51

We’ve all done it. One of DHs exes is quite attractive so I enjoy a good old nosey, I have liked her pictures in more than one occasion.

PuppyMonkey · 11/11/2024 16:58

I’ve just been reading some of these out to DP and had that thing where you literally can’t speak for laughing so much and he’s had to sit there waiting for me to pull myself together. Grin

Pusheen467 · 11/11/2024 17:06

This thread is killing me 😭😂

stuckinthemiddlewithyou1 · 11/11/2024 17:08

When I show my husband something on my phone from instagram or facebook. He always asks me to zoom in… it’s so risky to zoom in on someone else’s pics 😂

worst he always tries to zoom in with his fingers and I shout … don’t touch the screen! Just look with your eyes. 😂😂😂

would hate an accidental double tap on instagram by his fat fingers trying to zoom into someone

Reasons I love Mumsnet. The poster who tagged herself as ex's baby too 😆

Proper laugh out loud stuff.

I once screen-shot someone to send it to friend group and it went in school whatsapp alongside 'what a tosser'... before realising my mistake.

Tech and SM can be lethal.

boocurl · 11/11/2024 18:17

These posts have reminded me of being very drunk and finding a old managers Facebook page and laughing at her profile photo only in doing so I somehow stupidly managed to set it as my profile photo 🤣

I don’t even know how it was possible and only discovered when I woke up hungover to about a million messages asking what I’d done.

I’m so glad I don’t have Facebook now but loving these stories! 🤣

LaLaLaurie · 11/11/2024 18:33

It will have probably been on her lock screen notifications 😆😂

Embarrassedhelpme · 11/11/2024 18:48

I wish I had time to reply to all of these they are amazing 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 keep them coming . Helping me feel less stalkerish
