…found out about heated blankets.

They are the most beautiful thing,

I may never leave my house again. Or turn the heating on.

I have had ours for years. Best thing ever. I have one on the sofa and the bed.

lightsandtunnels · 10/11/2024 19:10

They are amazing! My favourite thing is having a Zen Facial at my amazing beauty therapist and she uses a heated blanket that you lie on then covers you with another fluffy blanket. It is heavenly!

Sidebeforeself · 10/11/2024 19:12

Cani ask a really stupid question? Do you have to sit near a plug socket?!

RaininSummer · 10/11/2024 19:14

Under mine now and heating is off. And yes near enough to a socket for the wire to reach.

irregularegular · 10/11/2024 19:16

Oh this was us last year! Stayed in a cottage in the lake district and the central heating failed. Electric blanket was a lifesaver and a revelation. Have one for almost all beds now and ours makes me happy every time I climb into bed. I am evangelical! So efficient too. Cost next to nothing to run compared to turning up heating etc.

Plump82 · 10/11/2024 19:16

I love mine. I have one in the living room and one at my desk and a spare incase one stops working. My first one I've had for years but the others I've bought haven't lasted well and just seem to give up the ghost fairly quickly which is why I have a back up. They're life changing and perfect for working from home so I don't need to put the heating on.

irregularegular · 10/11/2024 19:17

we only have one for the bed though. I guess I could consider one for the living room sofa too. But we are quite short of sockets!

Doggymummar · 10/11/2024 19:17

Mine has a lead of about 13 foot long so don't need to be that close to a plug. Mines a Lakeland HEATED poncho.

KayVess · 10/11/2024 19:18

I have one on my home office chair. So cosy through the day and no need to heat the whole house.

The lead is pretty long.

IT IS WORTH IT.

SmileEachDay · 10/11/2024 19:22

They cost about a penny an hour to run.

Honestly, I might hibernate.

MumOfOneAllAlone · 10/11/2024 21:14

I love mine! It's on all day every day, which probably isn't the best idea but when I get into bed I feel amazing 😌

Nothing like a freezing cold evening outside and climbing into my bed with dd and our dinner while we watch the soaps together

Love this time of year ❤️🎄❄️

WaryOchreZebra · 11/11/2024 22:24

Id really like to buy one for my mum. Do any of you have a recommendation?

cheeseonwheels · 12/11/2024 22:53

I would love a recommendation too please!

You do but they have nice long leads

sliceoflife · 12/11/2024 23:06

I got a cheap one first from Amazon. It failed after a few weeks and there was no way to return it.
i then bought one from Lakelan , it is amazing, 12 month warranty included. It’s a game changer when Wfh. I have it wrapped round my lower body and don’t need to put the heating on.
They have up to 50% off in their Black Friday sale.
DD has the extra large one, definitely worth considering while it’s on offer.

I got one from Argos. The habitat one.

I’m in love.

Kaleidoscopic101 · 13/11/2024 21:47

Can you easily wash them?

I have one like this. It is so warm. I'm sitting under it now. The heating has been off all evening and I feel toasty.

I've been using it heavily for several months, including chucking it in the washing machine, and it's still working perfectly. I had one before this from this manufacturer and it lasted ages too. So I highly recommend them for electric blankets.

Kaleidoscopic101 · 13/11/2024 21:47

Can you easily wash them?

It's very easy. The lead clips in and out. Then you wash it like a normal blanket.

YellowRoom · 13/11/2024 21:50

I've had a Livivo one since lock down, think it was £45. It's the best thing i've ever bought.

buffyspikefaithangel · 13/11/2024 21:51

I have a heated blanket and a heated pad

If you WFH but a blanket is too heavy the heated pad is great, it's the only thing that helps my endo pain too

StormingNorman · 13/11/2024 22:03

Just wait until you discover the ones that go under the bottom bed sheet. They are the most relaxing things ever!

EveryDayisFriday · 13/11/2024 22:06

Love my heated pad on my office chair, not yet broken out the heated blanket. I have bought some chunky shackets with fleece inside from tik tok shop that me and DD are planning on living in this winter. Like wearing a dressing gown all day but a bit smarter.
