To hate which topics you hate being bought up in mixed company and why?

Intended to be light hearted! Some are obvious like politics - what other things secretly make you roll your eyes when they're bought up at say, a dinner party? I hate hearing detailed descriptions of people's holidays lol. I like to hear if somewhere is nice but not a whole two week itinerary! I think my friends husband wants to tell me shut up already when I talk about pilates lol, what are yours?

People banging on about their weight and diets.

People banging on about their kids.

People telling you about the "crazy" dream they had....

My heart sinks every time it comes up.
I’ve been biting my tongue and changing the subject for 40 years.
There are women I bump into every couple of years and without drawing breath they’ll launch into the latest boring school news.

The main thing I hate is when people tell a mundane story and reference people you've never met and will never meet. "Oh I was at Jane's house for a cup of tea and then met up for lunch with Lorraine who I worked with at blah blah blah"

I honestly do not give a fuck!

Oh god. This is the thread that I’ll read when I know I shouldn’t and then overthink every damn thing I say in conversation. Then I’ll lie in bed in 2075 and think about the conversation I had in 2024 and whether the other person was judging my choice of topic.

This is my mother 🤣 she drives me nuts!

All of these make me want to walk away

Give me politics any day over any of those.

Oh God yes this. Especially over a meal, I find it very rude.

The what you doing for Xmas and then the shock and horror on people faces when i say nothing i dont own a tree or any decorations and have no intention of wasting money on them the amount of people who take serious offence to this is hilarious
Also car drivers o my car broke down other day i could not get kids to school or go to work or go shopping how do you manage with no car it awful

Miscarriages to someone that's pregnant. Did my head in. Went on a supposed to be lovely holiday with DH family. His auntie couldn't stop bringing up her mc she had at 22 weeks pregnant. Why trauma dump on someone that's pregnant like we don't have enough fears!

Weigh loss and diet plans does my head in too. Don't care that you don't eat carbs anymore and do a 5k run everyday🤣

Any topic where people start complaining and then a giant moanfest gets going.

Driving. I'm not remotely interested in what route you took to get here, which road you drove on, what the traffic was like, whether there were roadworks or not. Zzzz

People who get stuck in details of their routines. My friend does this. She will literally talk us through her family planner. For example 'I started a dance class on Wednesday, it's great fun.. started on Wednesday because K was soccer on Monday and doesn't get back til 6.45 and the class is 7 and I want to make sure she has her dinner... Thursday isn't ideal because DH works late...etc.

Anything to do with reproductive stuff makes me deeply uncomfortable, i want to run away. IVF, adoption, abortion, surrogacy etc. You would be amazed how often these issues are mentioned.

It used to be the work advice questions when I was a court solicitor.

Now it's local community issues from those who don't help in the community. Oh so you are on the village council. I stood on dog poo last week. The flower beds have weeds.

Pick it up, weed the beds, it's OUR village.

Conspiracy theories. I hate anyone bringing up a subject they know is controversial and speaking their opinion as fact.

Whinging, especially about really petty crap. I don't mind someone letting off steam, but listening to someone bang on about how they couldn't get a parking space or something is so tedious!
