Neighbour - would you bother?

Ever since I moved into my house, my next door but one neighbours have been really aggressive about not parking in front of their house.

To keep the peace, I always try not to park in front of their house but we live opposite a primary school and sometimes I do if it's the only space.

Yesterday, I was parked half over their house and half over their neighbours house. The woman turned up to my house and was knocking on the living room window as I was WFH and on a teams call. She was being really aggressive and intimidating.

I'm so sick of feeling really intimidated and their entitlement and want to slip a little note through their door. Is this pointless? Angry people will be angry I guess but I feel like this shouldn't go unchallenged.

She sounds awful 😡on the one hand, I’d totally want to challenge her and remind her that she doesn’t own the road outside her house (& who the fuck does she think she is..??!!)..but on the other, you have to live there and if she’s brazen enough to be knocking on your WINDOW (I mean, wtf..?🤬), then maybe best to ignore.
horrible for you though
(& sorry my comment isn’t hugely helpful!!)

AmandaHoldensLips · 02/11/2024 10:56

People like that are arseholes. Don't bother with a note. If they knock again tell them to bugger off with a firm reminder that - just like everybody else - they don't own the road in front of their house.

Coconutter24 · 02/11/2024 10:58

Someone who comes to your house and is aggressively knocking on your window is not going to take a slight bit of notice of a note through their door.

Dotto · 02/11/2024 10:59

I would park wherever is best and completey ignore / blank her. She does not dignify a response.

MargotMoon · 02/11/2024 11:05

Time to pull your big girl pants on I think. I know it's horrible and intimidating but the only way to deal with this is to stand up to her.

If approached in the street just say something along the lines of, "Look, I'll park wherever I can get a space and suggest you do the same". So unless you're blocking a drive or anything like that just carry on as you were.

This.

BoundaryGirl3939 · 02/11/2024 11:25

Does she park outside your house if her space is taken? Is she comfortable taking someone else's space?

A woman who lives on my road will park in other people's spaces but you are not allowed to park outside her house.

Dottiemay · 04/11/2024 17:43

Update! Now outside the neighbours house. They are absolute imbeciles.

Hahaha! What nobbers.

CharlotteUnaNatalieThompson · 04/11/2024 17:46

That ridiculous sign would have me wanting to park outside her house at every opportunity

TheDandyLion · 04/11/2024 17:47

Put a sticker on your car with Mini Cooper badge on it.

Please send this picture to the council and hopefully she gets a fine for her creativity. Oh, and park your car there whilst you're at it.

Not sure it's breaking the law, unless a highways officer deems it to be running an illegal clamping outfit (!) But they may remind the householder of the rights of others to park there. If they have the time, probably won't.

Jellyslothbridge · 04/11/2024 18:03

Can you ask members of a local mini owners club to all park in your road on the same day?

pictoosh · 04/11/2024 18:06

Well that sign is just an invitation to park there MORE.

Good lord! Who does she think she is?

MrsMoastyToasty · 04/11/2024 18:12

Say "Which part of PUBLIC highway don't you understand?" next time she gives you aggro.

OhshutupSimonyounobhead · 04/11/2024 18:15

Oh thats hilarious. People are so protective about the space outside their houses aren't they? I moved last year from a house with no off road parking and the shenanigans were bonkers. NDN HAD to park directly outside their house, not 3 inches left or right and would move a few inches either way if they were not right outside. Then a FB post was made by a upset new young driver who had had a snotty note stuck on her windscreen as she had the cheek to park outside a persons gate. The note was nasty stating how times have changed and now people have no respect and the owner of the house needed gate access to wash his car - best of it was he had a very rare parking space at the top of his garden as he was a corner plot. He was well shamed on FB and all the community posted back to say he was basically a nob. It is one of the reasons I moved TBH it is soooo petty!!!

This. If you do feel threatened though the police might be worth notifying

Rocksaltrita · 04/11/2024 18:20

HiccupHorrendousHaddock · 04/11/2024 18:20

Note on your windscreen - "this car identifies as a Mini Cooper S"

queenMab99 · 04/11/2024 18:23

Put a sign on your car saying it identifies as a mini Cooper.
