Neighbour - would you bother?

Ever since I moved into my house, my next door but one neighbours have been really aggressive about not parking in front of their house.

To keep the peace, I always try not to park in front of their house but we live opposite a primary school and sometimes I do if it's the only space.

Yesterday, I was parked half over their house and half over their neighbours house. The woman turned up to my house and was knocking on the living room window as I was WFH and on a teams call. She was being really aggressive and intimidating.

I'm so sick of feeling really intimidated and their entitlement and want to slip a little note through their door. Is this pointless? Angry people will be angry I guess but I feel like this shouldn't go unchallenged.

Report the harassment to the police.

And then op has to disclose a neighbour dispute when selling.

Otins · 04/11/2024 18:24

I hope this gets put on a local FB group so that people can totally take the piss.

Lemonadeand · 04/11/2024 18:31

I’d be tempted to put a laminated sign over it with super glue that says “PUBLIC HIGHWAY: NO PARKING RESTRICTIONS” under the cover of night.

Oh. Didn't know that. OK not the police then.

Hire a mini cooper?

Update! Now outside the neighbours house. They are absolute imbeciles.

Print a laughing emoji sticker and slap it on it 😂

BoobyDazzler · 04/11/2024 18:34

A sticker with “I identify as a Mini Cooper’ sticker could probably be bought for pennies 🤣

I’d park there on purpose.

I’d see if I could find online a sticker that says “Today I identify as a Mini Cooper” and pop it in your car. I’d pop a few stickers in the neighbours letter boxes so that more people can park there!

FabulouslyFab · 04/11/2024 18:36

I have a Mini Cooper - where are you? 😂

WonderingWanda · 04/11/2024 18:37

Nothing makes me want to park somewhere more than bellends like your neighbours who want to dictate who parks on a public road. We used to live next to some, they would park their cars right up to our bumpers at both ends so we couldn't get out if we ever parked in their space. I used to actively look out for "their space" to become free in the week before we went on holiday so I could nab it and potentially leave my car there for 2 weeks. Alternatively you could hire a skip for an extended building project!

Tittat50 · 04/11/2024 18:40

So it's a row of terraced houses with no allocated spaces and it's a free for all parking on the main road at the front of each house.

I've lived on streets like this and you just park where you can. She has no right over the public highway.

I would not do a note. I'd park where I wanted/ could find a space and when I saw her I'd just be prepared to have a conversation calmly ' as much as I'd like to leave a space for you at the front of your home, there will be times there is nowhere else to park. It isn't legally your space to claim. I know it's annoying on a street like this but I really have to park where there is room like everyone else '

Then leave.

The only person looking really silly here is the neighbour so just let the natural consequences fall.

Purplewarrior · 04/11/2024 18:42

PLEASE report the idiot to the council.

Bumcake · 04/11/2024 18:48

I’ve got a Cooper S, let me know where you are and I’ll come and leave it there.

BreadInCaptivity · 04/11/2024 18:49

Purplewarrior · 04/11/2024 18:42

PLEASE report the idiot to the council.

Why would you waste Council time on this?

It's a totally unenforceable sign.

Just crack on and ignore. Or better still find a mate with a Cooper S who's going on holiday to leave their car there for a few weeks.

Alalalala · 04/11/2024 18:55

Wow your neighbours are total morons!

NeedToGetOutOfThisSomehow · 04/11/2024 18:55

They can't clamp you the absolute idiots.
Plus what will they achieve by clamping, your car would be there longer

Briemeltedontoast · 04/11/2024 18:59

Car Wars - a headline for the Daily Mail?

NigelHarmansNewWife · 04/11/2024 19:02

I think, "This car identifies as a Rolls Royce" ought to do it. Or, if you're feeling belligerent, "Are any cars lesser cars than a Mini Cooper S?" No offence to Mini Cooper S cars, but what a bloody stupid sign. An eyeroll emoji blu-tacked to the bottom of her sign would be appropriate.

Do you think her husband thinks she's being a prat so is trying to use humour?

TequilaNights · 04/11/2024 19:04

'Not lesser car' 'clamp forcefield activated'

dixon86 · 04/11/2024 19:06

Buy an old caravan and park it outside their house. No insurance, tax or MOT needed!

Bignanna · 04/11/2024 19:07

Just don’t block their drive!

FormerlyPathologicallyHappy · 04/11/2024 19:08

Can a John cooper works model park there? 🤔

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 04/11/2024 19:13

If you live opposite a primary school how does she stop herself from spontaneously combusting ?

There must be 1001 cars to-ing and fro-ing

biedrona · 04/11/2024 19:16

Lesser cars will be clamped? wtf

TruJay · 04/11/2024 19:20

Imagine being that much of a prick! 😂at least you can take solace in the fact you are not!

I wish parking my Mini outside my house was my biggest worry in life!
