Neighbour - would you bother?

Ever since I moved into my house, my next door but one neighbours have been really aggressive about not parking in front of their house.

To keep the peace, I always try not to park in front of their house but we live opposite a primary school and sometimes I do if it's the only space.

Yesterday, I was parked half over their house and half over their neighbours house. The woman turned up to my house and was knocking on the living room window as I was WFH and on a teams call. She was being really aggressive and intimidating.

I'm so sick of feeling really intimidated and their entitlement and want to slip a little note through their door. Is this pointless? Angry people will be angry I guess but I feel like this shouldn't go unchallenged.

You need to find someone with a car much more expensive and exclusive than a Mini Cooper S and get them to park. I mean, no offence to Mini Cooper S drivers but they are ten a penny.

2Magpies24 · 04/11/2024 19:26

Oh my, what an UTTER SADDO. I am cringing on her behalf.

Dottiemay · 04/11/2024 17:47

Ha exactly! My other neighbour said exactly the same

And go on holiday for 2 weeks 😄
There's a man near us who parks his car on the road outside after work then moves it onto his drive at night I just to stop someone parking outside his house. Honestly who can be bothered!!!

juggernorks · 04/11/2024 19:32

Crikey, imagine being so absolutely pathetic. Bet she's got live, laugh, love stencilled on the wall too.

rockingbird · 04/11/2024 19:34

I had this when we moved to our new home and had no driveway. I have a big car and in between drop curbs only my car would fit on a section. There was uproar and I was told several times not to park on a certain section outside (opposite) my own house. I didn't let it stop me - actively went out of my way to move my car there as soon as it became free and made it clear I had every right to park where I wanted. I then pissed them all off further by speaking to the council highways who were lovely and said they had major road/pavement works coming up and would allocate me a drop kerb 🤣 no one else got one and now the mardy cow who started it but turned out to be lovely when she knew I wasn't backing down. She pops in for a cuppa often and she parks on my drive anytime she wants. We often laugh about the parking wars. Glass half full kinda girl.

itsmylife7 · 04/11/2024 19:35

I'd hire a mini Cooper s and park outside her house. 😀

Briemeltedontoast · 04/11/2024 19:40

Do you have a local independent car trader who’d be happy to park his vehicles outside her house until she gives up?

Bellatrixpure · 04/11/2024 19:52

Dottiemay · 04/11/2024 17:43

Update! Now outside the neighbours house. They are absolute imbeciles.

Clamp me and I’ll be pressing charges for criminal damage

EalingLucy · 04/11/2024 19:54

I would recommend hiding a zip van and parking it back there - it’ll become the default place to pick it up and drop it off for a while. Might make her miss your car?

Surgicalprecison · 04/11/2024 19:55

I would purposely park outside their house on a daily basis and ignore them.

Irridescantshimmmer · 04/11/2024 19:56

The next note you need to post through the vinegar-tits-nieghbours' door is a warning you have reported her agressive behaviour to the local authority and for her to stop disturbing you whilst you are working from home as she's disrupting your meetings on Teams calls.

She has no right to demand that you don't park in front of her house.

Iwantabrightsunnyday · 04/11/2024 19:58

Put a gate on your front garden and park a little way away

CallMeFlo · 04/11/2024 20:02

Bignanna · 04/11/2024 19:07

Just don’t block their drive!

Have you read the thread?? They don't have a drive

With my sharpie changing it to Mini Pooper …

rainbowstardrops · 04/11/2024 20:22

Hahahaha! That sign would make me purposely try to park there! 🤣

Blaggoshpereish · 04/11/2024 20:23

My old neighborhood had one of these awful people, near a school as well. She used to put orange cones in front of her house. She thought that space was hers, all day.
If I couldn’t find a space, I parked & moved her cones (clearly stolen from “Highways” as marked. And one Halloween we stole them and dumped them at town hall).

Always certain she would get me back one day with a scratch or flat tire ….
All drivers in the area struggled with same issue & most people did not park in front of their houses. She was just a c-word.

Her house previously had a drive and garage, she converted the garage to living space, and driveway to garden.

YellowAsteroid · 04/11/2024 20:23

Is there an option simply to ignore your neighbour? She can’t force you to speak to her.

if you’re parked legally, then that is that.

roadrager · 04/11/2024 20:25

I'd park there every day

And get cctv if you dont already have it

Fucking arseholes

HappiestSleeping · 04/11/2024 20:26

On the assumption that they have a half series BMW and not a proper Mini Cooper there aren't really any lesser cars, so you can pretty much park what you like there @Dottiemay

stargazerlil · 04/11/2024 20:26

Being harassed by your neighbour is illegal, park where you want and next time they confront you call the police, the police will talk to them and they will make them take that sign down as the sign is misleading and illegal.

AyrshireTryer · 04/11/2024 20:29

Pop a little poo in a box and post it.
Never done that, honest.

Treetops719 · 04/11/2024 20:37

To counter most of the posts on this thread I have a degree of sympathy with the neighbour albeit not sure they are going about things the right way.

We live in a road where most households have 2 cars but only 1 driveway space. There is an unwritten rule that everyone has ownership of the space outside their own house. Obviously there is not legal status to this but it doesn’t half make life easier for everyone. You do need a road with settled residents for it to work. I think in the dozen or so houses where we work to this rule everyone has lived there for at least 10 years so easier to maintain.

121Diet · 04/11/2024 20:40

Police

Havalona · 04/11/2024 20:41

I'm baffled at the "lesser cars" instruction. I presume Jaguars and Rollers would be ok there then! What an idiot.

Lesser cars indeed. WTAF?
