DH away all week, house a tip of course and the remote control has vanished.

(I’m not asking for suggestions on finding it - please don’t!)

But FFS. It’s the one chance I’ve got to get anything done and I just really needed my kids not on me for an hour or so.

Posted too soon. It's fiddly as hell but if you do you could get it to whatever channel they prefer and just keep turning it on by the button.

Can't you turn your TV on on the set?

Do you have TV with a change channel button at the front and a long handled broom?

Do you have a chromecast? Then you just need to turn the TV on and you can control from your phone

Most TVs can be operated without a remote control. The buttons will be on a panel on the back or underside of the screen.

I'd put YouTube on my phone and get cracking with as much as I could. If the kids are old enough, tell them there's a fiver for whoever finds the remote.

I know it won't help now if you can't turn the TV on, but for another time, why not download a remote control app then at least you'll never have the prob again.

Our volume button has broken on the remote and I put the sound up and down on the TV set itself. If you search for your model online you should find it (the buttons were pretty well hidden on our TV).

I have 5 TVs and none of them can be controlled without the remote.

We once lost the remote, looked for ages , declared that it was no where in the house and bought a universal one .

found it in the playhouse outside weeks later - in a doll bed all tucked up with a little blanket and pillow 🤣

The kids would destroy the house looking for it. No, it’s gone. DH has probably taken it with him (not on purpose but he was the last person with it probably absent mindedly packed it.) thanks for solidarity!

Found it - thank god! Wedged down the side of the sofa.

We've got HiSense TVs and you can download the remote app. Works well.Might be a stopgap solution if you can find an app.

If you have sky you can press the button in the middle of the sky box (on the front) and the remote will beep.

I also get very panicky when we can't find the remote, I often find that offering £1 for the finder gets it found pretty quickly!

You can download a TV remote app... It's genius..

What took you so long, that’s the first place to look for a missing remote!
