DH away all week, house a tip of course and the remote control has vanished.

(I’m not asking for suggestions on finding it - please don’t!)

But FFS. It’s the one chance I’ve got to get anything done and I just really needed my kids not on me for an hour or so.

Buy yourself an extra remote and hide it away from everyone.

The thing is the first time you look down the side of the sofa or in the usual places you aren’t looking thoroughly as you’re not thinking it is properly lost at this point, I’m then going mad turning the place upside down for it when of course it is in the FIRST place I looked - down side of sofa. Same applies to keys, bank card etc (eventually found in the pocket I checked first after emptying all my bags and coat pockets 🤦🏻‍♀️).

Now buy 3 more and hide them. I have a hiding place with 2 remotes in (plus one on my phone), 2 screwdrivers, 2 pairs of scissors, tape measures etc etc etc. Take their location with you to the grave

I've had 3 tellies now that do not have a physical button anywhere. All different mainstream makes. So I would say that it's wrong to say it's most that do. It's a ridiculous development. Totally nonsensical.

You can download an app on your phone that allows you to control your tv remotely for free

A fiver for whoever finds the remote should distract them pretty well, unless they’re tiny

seen you’ve found it but just wanted to say you can download a universal remote tv app on smart phone and use that x

Get onto Amazon and get a universal remote control delivered asap just in case it happens again!

Tip for sky remotes To find a lost Sky Q remote, you can use the remote's Find my remote feature:
Press the Q button on the Sky Q box
A paired remote will beep for 30 seconds
Press any button on the remote to stop the beeping
Also apps can be downloaded for normal remotes on some tvs xxx

for future reference @iknowitsridiculous - I bought a second TV remote and a second sky remote. They are hidden in the drawer with the remote batteries -only I ever change them so only I know they exist.

If you have to bring spare remote into operation and original remote isn't found, make sure you get ANOTHER secret spare.

Funny, my house is always much tidier when my husband is away all week…

Try download an temp remont on your phone its easy but i have Android not sure about I phones.

You can buy a universal remote control cheaply at the likes of Argos .....find the make of TV in the instructions and put in the code and bobs your uncle !!

im reading responses keenly as this is one of my greatest fears!! Unfortunately i don’t have much to offer.. I’m going to google a replacement remote for my tv as I routinely loose it almost every hour

all these people saying there is free apps no there isn’t everyone you have to pay for and none of them actually work tried a few when i was desperate and they were all subscriptions so not free and didn’t even work
