On holiday next week and I’m fat

Aargh. Please can anyone make me feel better? Going on a holiday of a lifetime next week, and I just didn’t stick to the holiday diet. I’m fat 😭

This is going to be an epic trip, with me and DH visiting our DD in Australia. Lots of beautiful hotels booked with pools (we travel around a lot after seeing her), and I’m passable in a cover up, but my bikini bod is a disaster. I had planned to lose weight but didn’t do the diet.

Can anyone gives me some mantras or words of wisdom to look past this?

Instead of being excited I’m just so disappointed in my lack of effort and could bloody kick myself.

Keep at it you'll get there in the end

Havanawinter · 19/10/2024 20:41

My mantra is take comfort in the fact that really no one cares about you or notices you at all (I mean that in a nice way!)
I have never seen a body so memorable I’ve still thought about it 10 minutes later, good or bad. have a great trip 😊

2024HolFinder · 19/10/2024 20:41

Honestly, this is my thought process before every holiday and without exception I end up having a lovely time and wondering what I was worried about

RechargeableGnu · 19/10/2024 20:43

Truly, buy a one piece and a cover up if that makes you feel better.

No-one else will care what you're wearing but you'll feel more confident.

Dollshousedolly · 19/10/2024 20:43

Concentrate on having a good time. Pack clothes that you love, regardless of what size you are. Buy a bikini or swimsuit that fits well. Enjoy.

User37482 · 19/10/2024 20:43

No-one is looking at you. On my last holiday there were all sorts of bodies wandering around (including my very own wobbly one), everything from teeny bikinis to burkinis on all sorts of shapes and sizes. Just enjoy your holiday and get yourself some sun,

greenrollneck · 19/10/2024 20:44

Try and be kind to yourself and relax and enjoy the trip, the food, the sunshine and remembering nobody cares.

Nobody gives two hoots about your stomach, legs etc, they are all too busy worrying about theirs.

And your family won't judge they will love you just the same. ❤️

WiddlinDiddlin · 19/10/2024 20:44

Wear what makes you feel comfy.

Do not let the body you live in or other peoples opinions of it (or your worries about what they'll think of it!) ruin your holiday!

SquatWeightaMinute · 19/10/2024 20:46

I always console myself that there will be people who look better than me and people who look worse and almost everyone will be far too busy worrying how they look to notice me.

SemmaLina · 19/10/2024 20:48

Buy a couple of bikinis in a bigger size , have a spray tan before you go and have one hell of a holiday

Itsmahoneybaloney · 19/10/2024 20:50

Why do you care? Honestly who gives a fuck?! Why do you care....think about that question. Do you ever think twice about a random stranger you've seen on holiday? You could be dead in a year - ENJOY LIFE!! Looks is such a tiny tiny part of life and its so irrelevant really.

DecafDodger · 19/10/2024 20:50

Enjoy the holiday. Nobody else cares you don't have the perfect bikini body, they are too busy worrying about their own.

AmiablePedant · 19/10/2024 20:51

There are so many great one piece swimsuits out there especially designed to flatter the less than perfect bod. Bikinis are an Evil Plot designed to make 99% of women feel inadequate.

Icanttakethisanymore · 19/10/2024 20:51

The enjoy your holiday, you will be with people who love you and aren’t looking critically at your body 😊

MrsTerryPratchett · 19/10/2024 20:53

It's Australia, cover up! A rash shirt and shorts is completely fine to stop you baking to a crisp anyway!

toomuchfaff · 19/10/2024 20:53

Enjoy your holiday, don't give a flying fk about fat. Don't ruin your holiday

TTPDTS · 19/10/2024 20:55

Honestly ask yourself - have you ever remembered anyone you saw on holiday?! Their weight in a swimming costume? How they looked in an evening outfit?

I'm literally on my way home from a holiday now and couldn't tell you a single memorable person / body / outfit. No one will be thinking about how you look in things apart from you, just go and enjoy how you are!

Caffeineismydrug35 · 19/10/2024 20:59

I used to feel like this every single year! I now have a swim dress which makes me feel way more confident and once I’m there I remember that no one cares, truly. You notice all your so called imperfections, others don’t. I hope you have a wonderful holiday.

TippledPink · 19/10/2024 21:01

I am in the same boat! Never been this big on a holiday and feel like trash. It doesn't help that on our last holiday, a skinny pretty young blonde was eyeing up OH at every opportunity round the pool, following him into the pool etc. She obviously thought she had a chance even with me around, which makes me feel really unattractive and insignificant.

Agree with others, find some clothes ans swimwear you feel super confident in!

NoNoNona · 19/10/2024 21:03

What do you consider fat and how old are you?

Bogginsthe3rd · 19/10/2024 21:03

Could you delay the trip abroad while you regain some dietary discipline? You might get more out of the holiday if you could shake off some of the weight ?

Spectre8 · 19/10/2024 21:05

I wear 3/4 swim leggings and a short sleeve rash top which has a zip so I can keep the zip down to show off my bikini top so I'm not 100% covered up judt the bits I don't like. Makes me feel better im a bit covered up. Just get some swimwear you feel good in

Wtfdude · 19/10/2024 21:05

Get a clmfy swimwear for yourswlf. What you feel good in. I had swimdress when size 20 and even got compliment from another women about it.
When you feel comfy, you will feel ok. Plus... The randoms will never see you again! 🤷

RomeoRivers · 19/10/2024 21:05

I am alive.
I am healthy.
My body gave me my gorgeous DD.
I am living my best life.

dressdisaster2024 · 19/10/2024 21:07

I was the same and I took a swim suit and I really regretted it once there as there were women of all shapes and sizes in bikinis and no one was bothered!

I would try and find a couple of bits that make you feel confident, I find you always loose a bit of weight on holiday as you eat better/ walk/swim etc more so just enjoy it!
