Has he been out? Been in a scrap and got an injury? Or got something painful in his paw or somewhere? Poor thing.

Hernamewaslola22 · 17/10/2024 02:03

No he's an indoor cat. No injuries.

So he could be in some kind of pain I guess. How long has he been crying? What's he usually up to this time of night?

Popcorn63 · 17/10/2024 02:06

Monitor his litter box usage, if he is trying to pee or poo frequently but nothing is happening, it could be a uti or bowel obstruction.

offyoujollywelltrot · 17/10/2024 02:06

Will he let you touch him? Any drooling or panting?

Hernamewaslola22 · 17/10/2024 02:08

I think it's because he wants to drink from the toilet and I'd closed the lid to stop him doing this

Hernamewaslola22 · 17/10/2024 02:09

Normally asleep at this time of night. No drooling or panting.

I gave in and put the seat back up and he's still crying. It's like a yowl.

How old is he? Is he neutered?

Ledwood85 · 17/10/2024 02:25

How old is he?

My cat started crying/yowling as he got to about 16yo - clearly his eyesight/hearing was on the decline and he was confused/scared when he couldn't locate me.

Hernamewaslola22 · 17/10/2024 02:29

He's 12 and neutered

I've given him lots of strokes

He's a senior. Time to take him to the vet for a check over.

If you have cat insurance does it have a free 24 hour helpline you can phone for advice? I don’t know much about boy cats but I know urinary infection, blockages and crystals can be a problem as they get older. If he is having any difficulty passing urine I would get him seen by a vet urgently. Hopefully it’s nothing to worry about though.

offyoujollywelltrot · 17/10/2024 03:00

If he's been in the last two weeks, what was it for?

HomeTheatreSystem · 17/10/2024 04:11

The vets tested for kidney issues on the last visit?

Copperoliverbear · 17/10/2024 04:13

Maybe he has a water infection ?
Take him to the vet as soon as it is open

Hoglet70 · 17/10/2024 07:47

A lot can change in 2 weeks.

Cats often yowl, especially at night, because of dementia.

Tel12 · 17/10/2024 08:04

You need to take him to the vets today. I'd say he's in pain.

coffeesaveslives · 17/10/2024 08:05

Time to go back to the vet for a thorough MOT - and mention the possibility of dementia.

sweetpickle2 · 17/10/2024 08:06

My cat does this- she’s deaf. I’d take him back to the vet.

Member984815 · 17/10/2024 08:07

Take him to the vet , a lot can develop quickly in a senior cat
