Who is in the wrong

Parent A is bathing 14 month old baby who is playing happily in the bath.

Parent B asks to swap as they need the toilet.

Parent B sits on the toilet on their phone doing some work whist right in front of the baby happily playing in the bath.

Parent A goes to get on with some house work.

Parent B, after approx 7 mins, shouts to parent A that the bath is freezing and the baby is really cold.

Parent A thinks that this is Parent B's fault as they should keep checking the temperature and it was their responsibility.

Parent B thinks that Parent A must have had the bath too cold in the first place and that it is their fault.

Who's in the right?

Both parent A and parent B need to grow up

GrazingLamb · 11/10/2024 19:11

B.

TheBelleOfBelfastCity · 11/10/2024 19:11

Parent B without a doubt. Babies in water need your full, undistracted monitoring + attention.

bathtimedramas · 11/10/2024 19:11

Sorry so you think parent B is in the right or the wrong?

B in the wrong

Stormyweatheroutthere · 11/10/2024 19:14

Before it was removed I saw a clip of a dc drowning in a bath at home whilst a parent sat on their phone...
*I had no idea what I was watching..
*wasn't watching it whilst bathing a dc though...
Fucking grim though.

DreamW3aver · 11/10/2024 19:14

What have you bothered with A and B? It's obvious who is who.

Prepare yourself for a life of useless parenting from B

thursdaymurderclub · 11/10/2024 19:14

oh good lord!...

bathtimedramas · 11/10/2024 19:15

It's actually not me, but someone close to me.

Who filmed the clip?

Afriendwithbreastsandalltherest · 11/10/2024 19:15

Parent B left a baby unattended in a bath for 7 minutes.

vodkaredbullgirl · 11/10/2024 19:15

B is wrong, when they sat there next to said child.

bathtimedramas · 11/10/2024 19:16

They weren't unattended

Who filmed the clip?

It sounds like a safety warning film thing

Afriendwithbreastsandalltherest · 11/10/2024 19:16

bathtimedramas · 11/10/2024 19:16

They weren't unattended

They were if the parent in the room was engrossed in their phone to the extent they didn't notice the bath had gone cold.

ShamblesRock · 11/10/2024 19:17

What a load of drama. Parent B should have got the toddler out the bath and wrapped them in a towel, and that should have been the end.

Stormyweatheroutthere · 11/10/2024 19:17

It was on a nanny cam... It was real and removed...

Wellingtonspie · 11/10/2024 19:18

Who ever is watching the child in the bath is responsible for their safety and that the temperature is correct.

Gosh, that’s just awful

Jifmicroliquid · 11/10/2024 19:19

They both need their heads banging together. It’s a non event.
It concerns me that people so ridiculously immature are allowed to procreate.

username3678 · 11/10/2024 19:21

I'm assuming that parent B is a useless parent and parent A knows that. Therefore parent A is wrong because they left someone they knew was useless with a child in a bath. It can take moments for a child to drown.

If I was in that scenario, I would have taken the baby out of the bath rather than leave them with a feckless arse.

Grepes · 11/10/2024 19:21

How cold can a bath get, toddlers aren’t exactly in there for hours? Mine didn’t really mind a lukewarm bath and I can’t say I was fastidiously checking the temperature as baths were no longer than 10-15mins - their skin is so soft I think you’d notice the shrivels before the bath got too cold.

Sounds like a lot of drama

bathtimedramas · 11/10/2024 19:30

FWIW, parent A didn't think it was a big deal, but parent B was pretty annoyed that parent A must have run a cold ish bath in the first place because it got very cold very quickly.

Just settling a debate - it definitely is a non issue - but helps to sense check these things!

A parent was taking a shit in the same room as their child bathed? That's absolutely gross.
