Who is in the wrong

Parent A is bathing 14 month old baby who is playing happily in the bath.

Parent B asks to swap as they need the toilet.

Parent B sits on the toilet on their phone doing some work whist right in front of the baby happily playing in the bath.

Parent A goes to get on with some house work.

Parent B, after approx 7 mins, shouts to parent A that the bath is freezing and the baby is really cold.

Parent A thinks that this is Parent B's fault as they should keep checking the temperature and it was their responsibility.

Parent B thinks that Parent A must have had the bath too cold in the first place and that it is their fault.

Who's in the right?

It's a trifle of course but seeing as B was there, B should have been more aware.
It's no biggy unless B has form for deflecting responsibility.

bathtimedramas · 11/10/2024 19:35

@KizzyDora is it? I didn't think that mattered at all, we are all human

OP posts:
bathtimedramas · 11/10/2024 19:36

@pictoosh it's more that B was very angry with A.... when it shouldn't really have been an issue

OP posts:
pictoosh · 11/10/2024 19:38

Well it's certainly not something to become 'very angry' about, no.
Very angry is disproportionate...has A been torn strips off and is now in shock, confusion and distress?

KizzyDora · 11/10/2024 19:38

We're all human but that's no reason to take a dump in the same room as someone. All those nasty shit particles floating around in the toilet spray-why would you want a baby to breathe that in?

bathtimedramas · 11/10/2024 19:43

@pictoosh more just had to defend themselves which was strange

What a strange reaction. Presumably they put the toilet seat down before flushing to prevent 'nasty shit particles floating around in the toilet spray'.

BluebellsareBlue · 11/10/2024 20:10

I think the 14 month old should be running the household... A and B need to grow up

Rhaidimiddim · 11/10/2024 20:13

Parent B is an absolute liability as a parent.

Oodiks · 11/10/2024 20:40

I think parent B is being a bit of an ass and could have just run some warm water in the bath or taken the baby out without making a fuss at parent A about it.

PleaseAskSomeoneWhoGivesAFuck · 11/10/2024 21:59

Eewwwww. Who takes their phone into the lavatory and who sits on the loo with someone else, albeit a baby, in the lavatory?
Gross

bathtimedramas · 11/10/2024 19:30

FWIW, parent A didn't think it was a big deal, but parent B was pretty annoyed that parent A must have run a cold ish bath in the first place because it got very cold very quickly.

Parent B should have topped up with warm water if the child was cold, not wasted time shouting at A to berate them.
B was in the wrong at all times. They should have been watching the child, not on their phone.

SeaToSki · 11/10/2024 22:11

Parent B is being unreasonable for kicking off at such a non event. Who made that parent the all holy arbiter of the temp a baby’s bathwater is too cold and who made that parent judge and jury of parent A.

It was on a nanny cam... It was real and removed...

A nanny cam in the toilet??

Thepossibility · 11/10/2024 22:48

Both parents are strange to me. A should've quickly finished the bath and taken the child out not just left them there while B took a shit.

malmi · 11/10/2024 22:50

The baby! I win.

SunsetSkylane · 11/10/2024 22:56

Was this genuinely worthy of discussion? I can't get my head round how people get shit done if a toddler aging a bath is this difficult for two adults to navigate.

Yerdawasasausagemaker · 11/10/2024 23:08

Parent B is wrong for not properly supervising the baby in the bath then pretending to get all righteous about the water temperature.

What important “work” were they doing on their phone whilst having a shit? Nothing as important as making sure your small child is safe that’s for sure.

Acornsoup · 11/10/2024 23:26

Parent B is wrong because nobody puts a baby in hot water and they let the baby get cold on their watch. They also need to eat more fibre. Parent A can never trust parent B in a bath situation again, because they are not sorry and they will not learn.

My thoughts exactly!

Both parent A and parent B need to grow up

This, yet again the first post nailed it 🤦

This in spades. The fact this is even being discussed by a supposed friend who’s not even apparently involved makes it doubly clear that both need to grow up and pronto.

BobbyBiscuits · 11/10/2024 23:51

The last person to be near the bath should have been checking the water. Of course it gets cold. Person B is a bell end for claiming water was initially too cold. Like did you not do science at primary school? It cools down over time, d'oh!

They should topped up the water. Not bellowed out to person A helplessly as if they're unable to operate a tap without supervision.
But in reality it shouldn't be that complex. I'm pretty sure of that. If also not want to look at person B on the toilet especially if I was person A.

Oh come on... as part of a family of 5 in a house with one bathroom of course this happens and I'm sure it happens in lots of people's houses. Stop being so precious. Guess you have more than one bathroom. Good for you but stop being so judgemental

Ambienteamber · 12/10/2024 00:01

I think parent B is most in the wrong for getting cross with A about the water temp. What's the point of that? Just take the child out of the bath if the waters cold why waste time getting agro with ur partner?
