Aw. Where are you?

Nourishinghandcream · 10/10/2024 11:09

Why, has autumn been cancelled in the UK?

Dizzydizzydizzyy · 10/10/2024 11:10

@BMW6 Southern Europe

You're not missing out on anything love. Been raining for weeks around here in my neck of the woods and the sun is no where to be found.

Yes that was the vibe I got from the title 😂

Bohomovies · 10/10/2024 11:11

It does look beautiful when it’s a clear sunny day, but most of the time autumn in the uk is just a lot of rain and a lot of house spiders.

AnneLovesGilbert · 10/10/2024 11:12

It’s rained almost constantly for weeks, loads of places have flooded, it’s cold and dark early. I’m a big autumn fan but this year isn’t my favourite, it’s not easy battling this much rain and incessant fucking mud with small children.

If it ever stops I’ll kick some crunchy leaves for you on a crisp clear day but for now you don’t have much to envy!

Catza · 10/10/2024 11:12

It's been raining since October last year in West Country. Only stopped for 2,5 months before starting again in August. Which sunny days you speak of?

YouveGotAFastCar · 10/10/2024 11:13

We don’t often get that; though. It’s so romanticised.

It’s usually just cold, rain, dark and spiders. There’s very few crisp, sunny days; the leaves aren’t colourful because they’ve turned to mush on the floor and nobody is skipping around with a PSL.

I’d take Southern Europe any day!

MyOtherCarisAVauxhallZafira · 10/10/2024 11:13

Clouds, rain, spiders and a mouse in the kitchen you're really not missing much!

DifficultBloodyWoman · 10/10/2024 11:13

Me too. I am in Australia. I’ve adjusted to a warm/hot Christmas but October and Halloween are supposed to be autumnal, not spring.

Needmorelego · 10/10/2024 11:14

South London here.
The current weather seems to switch daily from massive monsoon style downpours and being so warm people are out in shorts, t-shirts and flip flops.
It's not very autumny at all.

Anicecumberlandsausage · 10/10/2024 11:16

I'd rather be in Southern Spain than the murky soup I'm experiencing.

yorktown · 10/10/2024 11:19

Yep, I miss it too and I live here.
The sun is out today in fairness, but I am using that to desperately dry washing after the weeks of rain.

Radiolala · 10/10/2024 11:24

I love it, it’s probably something that I would also miss but I imagine that the sunshine helps a little?

Fairyliz · 10/10/2024 11:35

You need to take off your rose tinted specs. We get about two days each autumn when it’s like that and the rest of the time it’s grey and drizzly.

BMW6 · 10/10/2024 11:43

I have highish hopes for November being a proper crisp and dry Autumn - I live quite near the New Forest and it's glorious in a good year.

And crane flies lurking by the door to waft inside!

Cotonsugar · 10/10/2024 11:45

I would miss that too if I lived elsewhere. It’s a chilly, crisp day where I am today with blue sky and sunshine and the leaves are starting to change colour. Perfect for dog walking.

BMW6 · 10/10/2024 11:46

I haven't seen a crane fly for donkeys years!

I had several years living in a southern European country. Autumn was FABULOUS!

BogRollBOGOF · 10/10/2024 11:48

The good moments of autumn are glorious and it can be a stunningly beautiful season. Alas the leaves are often more squelchy than crunchy.

There's something very grounding about British seasons when they behave properly and they're easy to miss when you're in a less seasonal climate for a prolonged period.

EngineStartStop · 10/10/2024 11:48

It’s a lovely time of year. I do a bit of hiking and it’s my favourite time to get out in the hills. Beautiful colours, all the day-trippers have fallen away, just the right kinds of temperature, don’t even mind the odd shower.

Safxxx · 10/10/2024 11:49

Yes spring & Autumn 🍁 are my 2 fav seasons ❤️ although it looks like we're getting into winter early 😕

Snoken · 10/10/2024 11:57

Spoke to a friend in the NW the other day, they have had 2 nice autumn days where it hasn't poured down with rain so far. They have slugs on the outside of their windows, windows with condensation and their local park is a mud bath. It sounds bloody miserable.
