We don’t often get that; though. It’s so romanticised.

It’s usually just cold, rain, dark and spiders. There’s very few crisp, sunny days; the leaves aren’t colourful because they’ve turned to mush on the floor and nobody is skipping around with a PSL.

I’d take Southern Europe any day!

I agree. Autumn where I live is usually grey and damp.
Saturday was a beautiful autumn day. Today isn't too bad. It's only 6 degrees, but I'll take that over 12 degrees and rain.

Autumn is crap. I love summer (but even that tends to be crap in Uk)

It stopped raining for 2.5 months?? Jesus consider yourself lucky, here in NI we had about 5 dry days over the entire summer preceded by non stop rain from oct 2023

I feel for you. It's depressing, isn't it?

Greenerbright · 10/10/2024 13:29

Yes I love autumn. It’s raining here today but it’s been lovely lately and surprisingly warm for October. Maybe that’s not what you want though. Tomorrow looks ideal, full sun and crisp 13 degrees, but then it gets warmer again back up to 18 degrees next week!

Crisp and sunny? The UK? Wet and grey, more like! All the leaves around here are soggy and very far from crisp.

You're confusing the UK autumn with the mumsnet autumn!

I think it depends where in the UK you are clearly. Lots of sunny days so far this October where I am.

We’ve had a lovely October so far as well! Despite my username 😂

I love autumn, and don't mind the rain! Lovely day today - sunshine and fluffy clouds. Had a walk with the dog across the common. The trees looked beautiful but not quite at their peak - another week I reckon.

Itrainedallday · 10/10/2024 14:33

@Dizzydizzydizzyy theres a podcast called “As the season turns” on Spotify. I recommend it.

and to anyone else who loves the UK seasons. I find it calming. I suffer from anxiety and always feeling overwhelmed at work and it makes me enjoy the now. I feel present.

GalaticalFarce · 10/10/2024 14:59

I like your pic @DeedlessIndeed
I'd love a thread of autumn pics actually.

Bangwam1 · 10/10/2024 15:04

It’s horrible here. I cannot recall the last time it wasn’t raining. It’s also freezing cold and windy, like the end of November. There’s no sun week after week, just a blanket of grey. And all of this is after the bleakest summer I’ve ever experienced.

If you get to see the leaves beneath the sludge, you’re lucky. Southern Europe sounds lovely right about now.

Kaftanesque · 10/10/2024 15:33

Just back in from a woodland dog walk and it is beautiful here today.Blue sky and gorgeous autumnal light .Making the most of the next few days as forecast is good. But we do seem to get more wet, wild windy weather in Autumn the last few years.Still my favourite season along with Spring.
