🤬 They’ve only gone and changed them. I’ve been eating them for 50+ years. My dirty food secret. And now they are Richmond sausages in the tin which have that horrible Richmond sausages taste.

Im so upset.

Bought three tins as well. 😰

Haven't tried these. My go to when I want something quick. I also add peppers and mushrooms and serve on granary toast. My local stores may not have got the new ones yet so will check though they are usually more expensive than the likes of Tesco etc

CherryValley5 · 23/09/2024 13:59

Try the vegan version - veggie Richmonds are much nicer!

AnnPerkins · 23/09/2024 14:00

They no longer gluten free either Angry

PinkyFlamingo · 23/09/2024 14:01

I dont actually taste any difference.

MadamDicey · 23/09/2024 14:01

Snap !! These are my dirty food secrets also , when I'm home alone toast with beans and sausages smothered in grated cheese!

Rav3 · 23/09/2024 14:01

I used to love these (now sadly I refuse to eat things that are horrifically gassed to death…. Unless drunk and offered it 😂).

but I’m with you, changing iconic/staple snacks should be illegal!!

MissUltraViolet · 23/09/2024 14:01

Branston beans & sausages are so much better than Heinz, even before this awful richmond sausage swap.

Auburngal · 23/09/2024 14:03

Richmond sausages are the worst sausages. They have the least amount of meat content to class as a sausage- 42%! They are rank

Get customers who say “oh I am a sausage fan - only eat Richmond”. You are not a sausage fan imo…

42% pork content for sausages means it’s fill with rusk and and other gluten crap.

When customers ask for gluten free sausage, I always point out that our premium range are all gluten free. As more meat - less crap.

ohyesido · 23/09/2024 14:09

Try the Aldi version, save yourself a fortune

FeltCarrot · 23/09/2024 14:09

I don’t eat them because they are healthy, they were a go to comfort food. On a baked spud with lurpak (or on a chip butty - 😳)

Wish I’d known so I could stock up.

Edited

I think the vegetarian Richmond ones taste too meaty! Not keen at all.

IfYouHaveGhosts · 23/09/2024 14:25

Aren't the Richmond ones just another in the range rather than a replacement?
Also, Chef Sausage & Beans were the best. I still miss those.

GigiAnnna · 23/09/2024 14:27

I saw both for sale in my local Asda. I assumed the Richmond ones are a limited edition.

Sadly, one thing I learned from The Apprentice is that sausages only need to be 28% meat to still be called sausages. So they could be worse!

Getonwitit · 23/09/2024 14:44

When you cook Richmond sausages it smells like you are cooking road kill.

Be careful with the Branston tins though. We have been encountering an issue with lots of their tins being black/worn on the bottom. It looked like the tomato sauce has corroded the bottom. I researched it, and apparently they aren't safe to eat when they're like this.

Mountainpika · 23/09/2024 14:58

Proper sausages from our local butcher - locally sourced meat. No surplus fat in them. Excellent.

The old Heinz Beans and Sausages were gluten free. No idea what they bulked them with but didn't matter, they were just great for a quick, hot lunch.

It's really disappointing when an everyday food that just happens to be GF so no need to pay the 'free from' premium is removed.

Sethera · 23/09/2024 15:07

I once opened a tin and one of the sausages had gone green - never been able to face them since.

CoastalCalm · 23/09/2024 15:09

Wasn’t it “Chef” brand that did ‘London Grill?’
OMG, that was amazing, a staple of a cheap quick Saturday lunchtime meal! Sausages, beans, kidney and bacon in the tin!
