Tell me what parts of having younger (maybe like 3-11 year old) children do you miss/wish you'd enjoyed more? And what parts are you not missing at all?

I miss them having problems that I could sort out, them playing together for hours, their lack of self-consciousness, a warm little bundle in my arms, reading stories, playing games, heading out together for a day of adventures and them going to bed at 7pm.

I do not miss soft play, having to get in the swimming pool with them, constantly picking things up and wiping surfaces, broken sleep, being woken up at 5.30am or the school run.

Wish I could bottle the innocence and carefree aspects of early childhood and dose them up with it now.

I'm just going to litter this thread with good bits so I also have things to look back on and smile.

Today we were late, traffic was horrendous, I stalled the car and just generally was in an awful mood. I asked the kids to tell me a story to distract me and they didn't hesitate. We ended up doing a one line each story all the way home which involved singing and multiple sound effects. I was laughing so hard I almost cried.

This thread has made me realise life may not always be like this where they're ready to be silly and totally lack self consciousness. Been encouraging and enjoying it a lot more in the days since I started reading these messages ☺️

Hope it's been a nice nostalgia trip to those who's littles are no longer quite so little and a good reminder that it ain't all bad to those of us still in the thick of it!!
