Perfectly normal 3-bed semi, right?

Someone has put a lot of time into this, but AIBU to think it would sell better if they just... painted it all white?

OK, I don't know how I would feel about this particular house but, equally, I am not your target market for white wall either. I don't know many people in my circle who are.
Oh, it's a lovely white house... and another white house.... oh, and another one. Which one shall we go for? Remember that one 5 viewings ago which had an orange bedroom? Oh yes, that was a nice house, good layout, big garden yadi-ya.

LoveSandbanks · 05/09/2024 10:06

There’s not much I couldn’t live with while I did it up but that I couldn’t live with, even for a week.

it’s far too overstimulating for me.

Alltheprettyseahorses · 05/09/2024 10:07

Nice house, beautiful location, great price. Surely most people redecorate anyway when they move into a new home, this might have less chance of being repainted because it's so distinctive and little kids would probably live it.

TeapotCollection · 05/09/2024 10:08

I’d live in that as it is, absolutely amazing. The garden wall is fantastic. If I thought I could persuade my husband to move I’d be wanting it

Thanks for sharing

fluffiphlox · 05/09/2024 10:10

It’s someone’s pride and joy.

user1471538275 · 05/09/2024 10:12

Someone has loved that house and loved living in it. They have entirely made it their own.

It's a great price and once the clutter is gone it wouldn't be too hard to redecorate, although I might keep the Malificent room.

It appears well maintained.

I actually think it will sell quickly, due to the publicity.

CrushingOnRubies · 05/09/2024 10:15

Bloody love it

and the agent's description is excellent

AlecTrevelyan006 · 05/09/2024 10:23

If I bought that house the one I wouldn’t change is the garden wall. It’s actually pretty cool and would be a talking point.

the interior pix prove again that lots of people are unable to visualise beyond the existing decor of any house. I knew someone who didn’t buy a particular house because they didn’t like the carpets!

TerroristToddler · 05/09/2024 10:24

This is a hell I didn't know existed. I genuinely could not live there for even an hour but each to their own.

On a practical note, totally agree with OP, if they genuinely want to sell then I think they are doing themselves a disservice by not painting neutral and decluttering as that will ultimately get them a better price and more viewings.

NormaLouiseBates · 05/09/2024 09:04

I love how the agents have just gone with it in the description 😂

Yes, that deserves an industry award. Outstanding !!

MartinCrieffsLemon · 05/09/2024 10:28

I want to buy it!

Can you imagine how heartbreaking it would be for the owner to paint over all (what I assume is) their own hard work?

And the live then in boring, white walled rooms until it sells?

Whatever colour it is, you'll have to change when you move in anyway

Maray1967 · 05/09/2024 10:30

It wouldn’t put me off. I’d invite folks round for an amazing house warming and make sure we photographed everything. Then we’d get to work with the paint.

But yes, it is someone’s pride and joy - clearly a labour of love.

Vettrianofan · 05/09/2024 10:32

I feel sorry for whatever MNer has had their property posted on this thread😬 it's a work of art!

Bibbity bobbity boo indeed🤪

BigGhatt · 05/09/2024 10:34

Haha fabulous! Not my taste at all but i could see past all that and paint over it. I quite like the outside graffiti wall, id probably keep that 😜🤭

FrenchandSaunders · 05/09/2024 10:35

It really needs somebody who loves all that to buy it, not someone who is going to change it. Must have taken ages.

Doggymummar · 05/09/2024 10:38

Wow, I love it. What an expression of joy. The dolls creep me out but the owner must love it.

ErniesGhostlyGoldTops · 05/09/2024 10:42

But the chances of finding someone that would love this, that also wants to live in Rhyl and is planning on moving house, is pretty fricken slim.

Zebedee999 · 05/09/2024 10:46

My kids would have loved that as toddlers, good for their kids parties too etc. So I'd live with it til they were maybe 6 years old then would redo in my taste. In that time I'd admire the artistry too. So I'd have bought it and lived with it for a few years back then, now I'd redecorate.

Darkfire · 05/09/2024 10:48

The description is fabulous.

I have a garden wall, would love to have it decorated the one in that garden.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 05/09/2024 10:54

It was sensible of them to declutter before the photographer came.

loopyluloopy · 05/09/2024 10:57

Tell me you love Disney, without telling me you love Disney 😂

mjf981 · 05/09/2024 11:00

I hate everything about it and wouldn't even get through a viewing, never mind buying the place.

However the level of detail and time taken to do this is very impressive. I wonder if the painter is one of the owners?

Elphamouche · 05/09/2024 11:03

we love Disney. We would not buy this 😂

MummBRaaarrrTheEverLeaking · 05/09/2024 11:04

If you had the money, you could buy that, extra disney-fy it (so finish that bathroom and go all out with finishing touches) then put it on air bnb as a Disney themed unique holiday house.

Why on earth would you "have" to change it?

Repainting isn't obligatory!

I've got a room that's the same colour as when I moved in 8 years ago - I like the colour and it's in good condition, why would I waste time and effort repainting it for no reason?

Even for people that do want to change every room most people dont do it "when they move in" - they save up money, work out what the light is like etc and then do room by room....and it's a lot easier to live with plain colours in the meantime than with a witch staring at you from the fireplace!

In that house its not even as though you'd just have to replace the walls - the ceilings would need doing in some of the rooms and that's a much harder job. Not to mention at least one fireplace etc. It is in no way comparable in time, effort and cost to giving a magnolia/white wall two quick coats of blue.
