We had him measured today for school
shoes and he’s a size 1, when I looked online it said that was typical for an 8 year old!
Is this foot size unusual on such a young child?! He’s one of the tallest in his class too so I guess that plays a part.

Me and my son have big feet. My son its 8 years old now and already wear size 5 adult shoes and he us very tall. I dont even know that 8 years old supposed to be size 1.

i’m woman and wear size 11. I dont have any ballet flat or even high heels 😢😢 always been the tallest and the biggest feet in my class.

DappledThings · 29/08/2024 22:26

My son and my nephew are both 8. DS is a 13, nephew is an adult 5. There's huge range.

thaegumathteth · 29/08/2024 22:27

My son had size 1 feet at 4. He's 17 now and a size 10 so 🤷🏻‍♀️

violetsparkle · 29/08/2024 22:27

If he's tall then that makes sense

Marmalady75 · 29/08/2024 22:32

My ds had his feet measured at size 1 at 5 years old and has only just moved to 1.5 at age 9. His cousin is a year younger and a size 2. There doesn’t seem to much rhyme or reason to it.

Oldinjuryhelp111037 · 29/08/2024 22:33

My just turned 11 year old is a size 7. I'm a 7..we can share trainers now....

MaryShelley1818 · 29/08/2024 22:36

My 6yr old is a size 1. He's also very tall.

DoreenonTill8 · 29/08/2024 22:38

Mine is 7 and a size 2. I'm only 2 sizes bigger at a 4,.so looking forward to stealing his trendy trainers!

Lovelysummerdays · 29/08/2024 22:38

Lots of kids do. DS was an adult seven in primary school. Costs an absolute fortune it’s not just one pair it’s school shoes / trainers, football boots, wellies, indoor trainers, weekend shoes for every size.

Lorelaigilmore88 · 29/08/2024 22:40

Meh not a big deal, my 4yo is in size 13 shoes and will be in size 1 soon... he also wears size 8/9 trousers...

Oor · 29/08/2024 22:41

My almost 9 year old is a size 2. Some of her friends who are also almost 9 range from size 11 to size adult 5. Seems a huge range.

how tall is your son? If he’s tall then his feet are probably in proportion to his height

Snowpaw · 29/08/2024 22:43

My DD is 13.5 so nearly there and she's 6 in October. Tallest in class and needs big size dresses or they look like tops on her. She towers over some of the little ones in Reception, people assume she is older!

MyOtherCarisAVauxhallZafira · 29/08/2024 22:45

DS is just going into year one he's a 13.5 he's 122cm
I have size 7 feet, DH is only a size 9 which is incongruous with his 6'4 height

MyOtherCarisAVauxhallZafira · 29/08/2024 22:46

The problem I have with DS being tall is that he's not also big built, so to get the length in everything it's far too big/wide

Goldbar · 29/08/2024 22:46

My 6yo has 2.5 😂.

bryceQ · 29/08/2024 22:48

My son is 5, 6 in the new year and he is a 2.5! Husband very tall with size 13/14 feet.

I think some kids just grow quickly!

SwingTheMonkey · 29/08/2024 23:06

It means nothing. They’re not going to grow and grow exponentially until he’s got Ronald McDonald feet. My eldest had completely normal sized feet until he reached pre-teen years and now, aged 14, has size 12 (adult) feet.

Deeperthantheocean · 29/08/2024 23:13

I feel your pain, 10 year old is size 5, same size as me! Xx

birdglasspen2 · 29/08/2024 23:16

My son is 7 and in a size 4.

Ozanj · 29/08/2024 23:18

DN had size 1 feet at the same age, was tallest in his class, but hit his growth spurt at 12. He’s now 21 and 5 ft 9 with size 8 feet lol.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 29/08/2024 23:20

My DS was pinching his godfather's shoes when he was 11 and a size 8. He's now 19 and a size 13. Big feet happen my fault

welshpolarbear · 29/08/2024 23:28

My age 11 DS is size 9 (adult)
It's costing a fortune in shoes the rate his feet are growing!

brightyellowflower · 29/08/2024 23:29

One of mine is 10yrs old with size 6 feet. He's also 5.2 and weighs nearly 9 stone. Doctor not bothered as said that weight is fine for his height just on the children's BMI charts he is off the scale for height and weight.

He started school age 4 with size 13 feet.

ALPHAFEMALESINCEBIRTH · 29/08/2024 23:32

my just 14 old was a 13H at first shoe at 18 m as he was a late walker
i remember the boy in clarks was gobsmacked
by age 2 a 1 and just went up and up

now a adult 12 (and 6ft 2) and has been that size since age 12

he was born a giant though
11lb11oz and 29 inches(i was told medically classed as a giant birth, we even made the local paper ) and feet so big at a few days old i got him measured in clarks(my sisters friend worked there)
he was a 8G then so no new-born socks or booties fitted

big feet are hereditary though im a adult 12
im a 6ft female and got to this size by age 11
i was a 11 from age 12 and what ever reason jumped up a size at 35,im 43 now

his dads not tall just 5ft 6

we cant buy from the shops has to be online
i haven't worn "female shoes" since i was a child

Obeseandashamed · 29/08/2024 23:33
